So I am looking for a good fish finder that isn’t too expensive. I was looking at the Garmin striker 4, however I was told that it isn’t a good finder. I want something that I can use for both ice and summer fishing. I was looking at the deeper smart sonar, however im not sure about that either. Im wondering if anyone here has a suggestion for fishfinders that are good, and are not overly expensive. Thanks.

Assuming you are wanting this for ice fishing.

Before I purchased the marcum lx-6, I had the showdown troller 2. It’s a really good unit for people using a flasher for the first time. I believe it is around 200 at cabelas.

If you want one with more features you can always look to craigslist or Facebook market place for a used unit.

If yougo the used route, cosiderreplacing the transducer as part of the cost. You don’t know how the previous owner treated it. The transducer, is what makes the unit well or not.

It would probably be used mostly for icefishing, but id like it so say im in the kayak, or a place that doesnt have a finder, i can at least find bottom contour/depth.

I have a lowrance hook 4 that I use for this very situation. I found it on sale about this time of year last year and ordered an ice kit for it separately. In the summer I leave the unit in the ice pack and swap transducers for my John boat. They have a few different models and I got the one with the lake maps included. I wouldn’t mind having a bigger screen but other than that it does everything I need it to plus some. If you have any questions let me know.

First post here, but I found deal at West Marine where they have the Garmin Echomap Chirp 44CV for sale at $250. Its the same unit as the Striker 4, but with down imaging, mapping, and chirp. I got it sitting under the Christmas tree so I can’t give you a user review on it yet but I plan on using it on my small boat and on the ice. I think they only have one unit left in stock though.

When you want advice on an inexpensive unit you should post a limit price. That way people that want to advise you ,can recommend a suitable unit.

What may be affordable to you may not be to someone else.

Best help to buy ads I ever seen was where they stated a spending spectrum.
For instance looking to buy XXXXXXX 150-225 or whatever circumstances pertain to that poster.
