Fish Cleaning Glove

So the Doctor says I’m going be on blood thinners for the next six months. I don’t keep a lot of fish but I do keep some panfish for a meal here and there. Slicing myself open would be worse than usual, so I’m thinking about a protective glove. I see Lindy sells one and so does Rapala. Anyone use these, or have any other suggestions?

    Thanks guys

Those fish gloves work great. We use them to pull fish out of the live well and you cannot get poked.

I use the grey Rapala glove and think it works great for anti slip. However, I don’t think that either would prevent blade penetration if you really forked yourself.

    Kevlar Cut Resistant Glove

Been using these for years. I’ve never suffered any kind of a cut while wearing them.
I don’t believe you could cut through them with a fillet knife but you probably could
give yourself a pretty decent poke if you were to stick the point in your hand.

Yup, they work well. I really like them for panfish to avoid getting cut by the gill plate and help with holding a slippery fish. Make sure you wash the glove well after using it. They can get quite stinky otherwise.

Pretty sure the Rapala branded glove isn’t much different than the cheaper South Bend brand glove.

    Mail Glove

And when you go off the blood thinners you can sell it to someone going to the Renaissance Festival

Exactly. Given your level of seniority, I think it’s time to promote yourself to a supervisory position. For the good of the younger generation, of course. They’ve gotta learn sometime.

Had the same thing….+ I’ve doing an aspirin a day for the past 15 years….
I would buy one for sure….Had a small nick cleaning a Whitefish once…..
    Had to wear,and keep changing,a bandaid for 5 days…
Sure was happy that it was only 6 months, and had to remind the Dr when it was up….

I haven’t poked myself but I have poked my dad when we both reached into the pail to grab another gill at the same time. Figured I better put the knife down after that “stabbing”.

I know a guy who stabbed himself in the leg while gutting a deer. Nearly bled out. He didn’t even know it happened until he noticed there was far more blood than there should be.

I did a similar thing but with my finger. Finished gutting a deer behind my house and went to the hydrant to wash the blood off and couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t get it all cleaned off. Then I looked and realized the tip of my finger was almost gone.
