First time TV in my fish house

For the first time I’ve finally decided to add a tv to my 8×12 skid house. It is a simple 12V wired skidhouse. Thought about it a lot over the years. Now I start to rethink again the whole 110V vs 12V setup idea. I always start with just how crazy priced the 12V TVs are. I know that is the most efficient way to use the battery’s available power, and not lose power via an inverter. Has anyone found that 12V market has come down at all in prices. In the end I’m guessing I’ll end up getting a 110V LED TV and a small/mid size inverter and dealing with some inverter power loss and the noise of an inverter. I was originally thinking a 32” over the years, but am now thinking of something more around the 40” size.

Have you looked at the 12v waterproof tv? Talk about some $$$. I always thought it would be cool to hook up my depth finder to a tv when open water fishing. Like a 24” or 30” screen. But at the cost it never happened and an extra depth finder was cheaper. As a skid house being left out there I wouldn’t spent a whole lot on the tv. I wouldn’t think of it as 110v vs 12v. But more as 110v and 12v.

Google MARINE or RV TVs. 19” for around $150. 24” for $200. Not too shabby. 8×12 fish house…how far u sitting from the wall u need a 40” tv? LOL.

Also, are you watching TV or using for movies? Computer monitors will work as well and they make 12v versions.

I bought a 32″ Samsung that works great. The TV is sold as a 110v tv but the actual input is 12v. You can unplug the cord off of the back and just run 12v directly into it.

That is not bad. Last time I looked it was about 6 or 7 years ago and they were in the $Ks. I have the output on my Humminbird. Might need to add a large screen for the SI. waytogo

    Joe….
Would you be able to give us a model #?
I was aware of this 12V input idea on some of the smaller TVs, but it seems hard to find them on the shelf. It seemed tough to find one in the 32” sizes, and I couldn’t image finding one in a 40” range. The one comment I’ve heard to be aware of with doing it that way is those TVs were designed for constant 12V, and I’m assuming when running off a deep cycle that the voltage will vary and slowly get less and less as the day goes on. People thought those TVs would maybe function kind of funny on the lowered voltages?
