I’m looking at getting my first sonar. I’ve found a couple pretty decent deals on LX6 and LX7 via Facebook. 2 questions. Do I need that much in a sonar and how do I trust what I’m getting through a site like that?
Thanks

Do you plan to use it in the boat as well? How much do you plan to use it?
If you plan to use it more than 10 times an ice season and in the boat, an LX7 is a decent choice.
Although, you can get more for less if you bought a used Lowrance HDS 7 gen 2 (non-touch model) or gen 3. You get gps mapping combined with a good quality sonar for much less. Plus you have a top end unit for your boat.
Marcum makes a good sonar but the bang for your buck has really suffered in the past few years.
This is a HDS 5, but still a steal of a deal when you consider gps.
Lowrance hds 5 w/chip $325

Here’s another steal. If you could get this guy to part with one of these HDS 7 gen 3’s for $400-450 or so, this would a steal.
Two Lowrance HDS-7’s w/ TotalScan and Spotlight Scan $1200
