First Ice/Early Ice 2017

    I guess it’s never too early to start this topic every year, (if you search “first ice” on IDO you get 4,180 results). My group is trying to decide between a pre-Christmas LOTW trip or mid-January. I realize there are many trade-offs, and weather is the prime consideration, but that aside what would you guys recommend?

    Pre-Christmas. Hands down. Need to be prepared to use atvs or snowmobiles though.
