Picked this up on Friday Howa 1500 223 Kryptic. Spent Friday breaking in the barrel Howa has a little different breakin compared to what I am used to doing. 10 rounds decoppered and cleaned after each round then 5, 2 round shots decoppered and cleaned after each group. Can`t wait to get it on paper and see how she groups. See if Howa can keep up with my Savages.

Don`t know how long that Simmons 4X14X40 scope will be on there see how it does feels weird not having dials. If the Simmons does not work out I have a Weaver Super Slam 4X20X50 FF that will go on her.

Best laugh I’ve gotten in a long time.

SWEET rifle and the 1500 action is a work horse. I have been nothing less than exceptionally pleased with my Howas.

    Coyotes beware!

Post some groups when you get a chance, I’d love to see how it shoots.

Holy smokes is that sweet. Is that dipped in the kryptic camo? Paint or rubbery feel to it?

The stock has that sticky feel to where as the barrel has the hard slick feeling.

I’ve got the same rifle but done in snow camo. With factory offerings she’s pretty fond of Hornady products. Now that we’ve had our first snow of the season, I’ve got the itch to pull “Sally” out of the safe and go “surprising” somewhere!!!

Interesting you had the same experience with Hornady. My 22-250’s were the same way. Much better groups with Hornady, enough that I have a few boxes as back up.

Yes it comes with the DBM it is offered from Howa as a package. Me personally any rifle I buy has to have the DBM ( detachable box magazine ). I have to say Howa did an excellent job on the trigger for stock it is sweet, almost as good as the Savage accutrigger. ( Where are you Randy )snicker snicker.

Totally agree I can’t see how anyone can use a top load magazine on a hunting rifle. Maybe if that’s all you had ever used… The idea of having to load and unload and load and unload a top feed mag, with cold hands, in the filed, while dropping rounds in the snow, etc, etc.

It’s one of the things that cools my desire for a classic Winchester 70 and other cool older rifles.

I looked it up and see they all have the HACT trigger. My 1500’s are a previous generation with the dual trigger adjustments for both tension and creep. I personally like a very slight amount of creep in the trigger
