I’m not sure how some of those are going to work with slow death hooks. Usually with slow death hooks either just use the hook or you can add a bead.

Guess I’ll find out. LOL! I tied my leaders long so that if they aren’t producing the right action, I’ll clip the hook and tie a double snell on for the worm harness.

I really like those color combos. The jeweled bead is interesting that you have tied in, can’t say I’ve seen those before.

The slow death hooks are curious. Only negative I could see is it giving the worm an unnatural crooked look when not in motion. But then again they might dig it!? Report back.

I’m curious…….where are you fishing for Walleye’s? Looks like you’re from Sacramento. I’m moving to Manteca in a few weeks and have a lot to learn about fishing in CA.

No Walleyes here, to_setter. I’m relocating to Utah this next year and getting ready for Walleye and Wipers, which will be new to me. The drought here has put a big hurt on fishing.

Spinners work just fine with Slow Death hooks, we fish that combo all the time.

Do you still pinch off 1/2 of the crawler and does the crawler spin the same as if you did not have the blades?

Recently used the slow death hook/spinner setup on Devils Lake and it worked well. Walleyes seemed to want leeches more, but the slow death spinner outperformed the traditional spinner. I did need to still pinch off half the crawler to get the slow spin.

Don’t shy away from the quick clevises, I liked being able to switch blade sizes and colors just as much as whole rigs.

The translucent blades are the plastic blades from Dutch Fork Lures. They have a nice assortment of paint jobs available and supposedly spin at slower speeds than a metal blade.

Regarding pinching off crawlers, do they sell mini crawlers in your part of the country? Here, we have crawlers and mini crawlers. Mini crawlers are about 1/2 as long as a full crawler.

It depends on the size of the crawler, if too much hangs off you can get short bites and miss fish. This usually only happens with Perch. We also caught some Big Gills using the spinners and slow death hooks.

I would also use the quick Clevis.
