It’s just about time to wrap up my second favorite month here on Leech Lake and kick off my favorite!! Water temps have been down and back up again but it looks like cooler weather could be on the way.

For Walleyes, an 1/8 oz jig and minnow is hard to beat. Some days the fish want it jigged aggressively and other days we are just dragging it. Still other days a 1/4 oz jig and white 4″ plastic is besting the classic combo. If you like to troll, a #10 Husky Jerk in gold and black has been my best producer.

The 30″ class Pike are showing up in bunches as well which makes for great sport and I’m seeing and hearing about a lot of shallow Perching right now.

A couple buddies and I are headed your way middle of the week. Don’t wear them all out before we get there!

It should be great timing for you James. I’ll be out there Tuesday and Wednesday in a blue/silver/white Skeeter.
