Curious if any has come up with solution for door lock/larch mechanism from freezing on the inside of door.
When it is really cold, typically overnite, the handle freezes and becomes very difficult to open the door, also have found that can get a little ice/frost build up around the edge of the door on the inside, and will freeze, typically at the bottom of the door and can make it difficult to open the door, usually happens when house has been left on the lake a couple days with the heat on low. Appreciate any help to solve problems.

    Thanks

Literally as a guy that just unfroze a lock on my truck topper less than 15 minutes ago I will give that a try.

    Thank you

I had to do it to my hitch lock on my truck a few days ago and my pad lock on my trailer tongue. Works like a charm. Get it right in the latches and locking mechanism

If you can’t find it or don’t want to search out Zep 45 (it’s impossible to find in most box stores) or buy cases of it online, just use WD40. It will do the exact same thing for your lock, just may not last as long.

Thanks Bearcat, I’ll have to track some down. My solution has been to carry a torch lighter in my coat and use it to melt the ice in my keyhole/doorknob.

We always have a blow dryer in the fish house. There’s been more than once it’s saved the day. When it’s really cold out that door damn near gets welded shut

Would a wipe down with Vaseline on the door seal work? Works on my Engle bait cooler to keep the lid from freezing.

When I’m in mine I always like to keep a fan on it.

During the day – pending sun’s out – can you keep the door on the south side?

Nothing like having to burn a hole in a snowbank at 3am with the door froze shut!
