I’ll be out early Saturday morning zone 342. Took the whole week off work so I’ll have 9 days off which will feel great but I’m sure it will go by super fast

We will be in 273 here at home. Brother, nephew, me and my boy will all be out. My kid wants to goose hunt, though. With a high around 50 i will probably be in the yard all afternoon.

decided to skip opening day this year and do a full day guided goose hunt on Saturday instead. might try to get a pheasant hunt in on Sunday. second weekend of the season I am on dog sitting duty for my sister (I am the only one she trusts to take care of her dogs when she goes away) so that weekend is out. might try to make it north to either 152 or 157 and hunt the final weekend of the firearms season. if I skip that I can always do a late season bow hunt or crossbow hunt instead. would be a ground blind hunt with a small heater in the blind with me to keep me warm (lol).

We hunt zone 178 down The Whiteface River. I have a better chance of seeing turkeys or wolves than deer.

178 here also, Mark. Just north of Meadowlands. Definitely agree with your assessment.

I will be heading up this afternoon to area 267. We have more family members coming this year so that means more cutting will need to take place. Not so much a fan of the processing aspect…

605 and some 641 for me Saturday. As others have mentioned, with 2 young kids of my own it’s a tough task to carve out several hours here and there for just myself, and also because of that I haven’t done anywhere near the prep work I would have preferred. Still, it’ll be a great time out in the middle of nowhere and away from people.

That’s one of the aspects I’ve come to enjoy most about this annual ritual nowadays. No kids, no wife, no traffic, no co workers, no yard work, etc. It really helps me unwind from the endless annoyances of daily life. I find it to be very peaceful and quiet, although it can get boring at times too.

214 for me. Going on year #28 of deer hunting. I guess I’m the opposite of some with the kids stuff. I absolutely love taking them with. It does make stand selections tougher depending on wind. I’ll get in plenty of solo sits. Especially some bow hunting. But it’s so much fun getting to hunt, retrieve, gut, and hang deer with some of the kiddos with. Not sure who gets to hunt yet with the dumb sickness taking is sweet time tho.
    Good luck to everyone. toast

I love hunting with my kids too. My middle son is a miniature version of me and he knows it. That kid is just so into outdoors its almost aggravating at times. LOL
The youngest he could really care less but he still goes. The oldest is tied up with work and a dog so its really hard for him to go anymore. My youngest with right behind me when we became face to face with mama bear and her 2 cubs 20 yards away. That was a story I will never forget. Tons more stories beyond that with the other kids and of course them falling asleep in the stand while we are supposed to be hunting.

Cleared a nice spot of leaves on the ridge behind the farm this afternoon for my lawn chair. Doe tag in hand. Lots of deer sign around this fall. Hunting north of Mille lacs.

    Good luck everyone.

Haven’t gun hunted MN in a handful of years, but looking forward to it.

Zone 183 behind the house on our new land.

I’ve had the boys out hunting and fishing all fall, looking forward to a little “me time” in the stand today mrgreen
