Finding Lund gas vent + gas smell

  • #2219057

Hey y’all, I recently purchase a 2012 Lund impact 1775 , during the inspection and test I never noticed any gas smells but when I got it home (after driving 12 hours) I noticed a decently strong gas smell in the rod lockers. I’ve done forum searching and realized it could be a billion different things, and I’m hoping it’s not leaking. But something I couldn’t find was to do with the gas vent. Many Linda have a through bull gas vent, my boat doesn’t seem to have one .. where would the gas vent be located ? Trying to fix this myself instead of bringing to a dealer.. there’s no gas in the bilge..

On my 2012 Tyee the gas tank vent is on the passenger side mid hull, forward of the gas cap. I just had to replace the exterior vent cap yesterday as it got snapped off on a dock up in Voyageurs park last week.
Here’s a link to the part/what it looks like on the exterior.

Well IDO didnt like that link, but just google “Attwood gas tank vent”, the first result is from Amazon for it and this is what fits on my 2012 (have to figure they used the same one on all/most 2012 Lund models).

My 1996 Lund Pro V had a thru hull gas vent. Mine had an exterior vent cap similar to what xplorer describes above. I thought mine was on drivers side though. Don’t ask how I know. I put a screw through it when I replaced the floor in it. The gas smell was over powering. I had the vent line replaced. You should be able to take the floor up and inspect the lines. The gas tank should be under the floor. Should be just a few screws to remove each floor panel.
