So I finally installed a backup camera in my truck. I should have done that years ago. What an awesome feature. I can now see what it behind me and backup with confidence and saftey. Not to mention seeing the trailer I’m backing up to.

How does that hook into your factory display? Is it OEM or aftermarket?

If you have a factory OEM display that has the input, it is a simple plug and play application.

I upgraded the entire center with a Kenwood Exelon DDX392 reciever. The Excelon can connect via Bluetooth or hard wire to my iPhone. With the Kenwood I can use many of the phone apps. Navigation/Mapping apps, Netflix, YouTube, etc. It has hands free calling. Backup camera inputs. DVD/CD functionality. Sirus XM functionality and of course standard radio as well as HD radio.

Did you tie it into the back up lights or a different power source? I like being able to also see the boat and who is tucked behind me while going down the freeway. I use the running lights for my power source.

I used the backup lights as my power source. I was thinking that may be a mistake since I can’t power the camera without reverse. How you do it may be the way to do it.

    A what?

You know, a piece of equipment you put those 12″ wax discs on and they spin around and around and put out scratchy sound.

oldrat, there are lots of wireless back up cameras out there. You can pay from $99 up to $700. The size of the screen can play a big part of the cost. You can see the inexpensive models the next time you are in Wal Mart.
