So I finally installed a backup camera in my truck. I should have done that years ago. What an awesome feature. I can now see what is behind me and backup with confidence and saftey. Not to mention seeing the trailer I’m backing up to.

I added one earlier this year. Sure makes backing up to the trailer a lot easier. Best $99 I’ve spent in a while.

I love the stock in-dash unit in my GMC. I can back up so accurately that I can literally just crank the jack stand straight down on the ball. Accurate to within 1/2 inch.

Only thing I wish I could do with the stock unit is manually turn on the cam when driving. I’d love to be able to see back there on occasion and the cam would show stuff that cannot be seen in mirrors.

I upgraded the entire center with a Kenwood Exelon DDX392 reciever. The Excelon can connect via Bluetooth or hard wire to my iPhone. With the Kenwood I can use many of the phone apps. Navigation/Mapping apps, Netflix, YouTube, etc. It has hands free calling. Backup camera inputs. DVD/CD functionality. Sirus XM functionality and of course standard radio as well as HD radio.

I also had the Viper remote start installed at the same time.

Thanks for the reminder! I have a 2005 4Runner and I miss this feature bad. Especially with kids and trailers.
