The answer for those dinks that like to horn in on your fishing space.
What are they supposed to do when their livescope shows every fish in the lake is under you.
I could’ve used this the other day. It was a tough day on the river and a boat of 3 teenagers was fishing near me. They cheered when I lost a fish boatside. Never had that happen and I’m not very proud of how I responded. If I had this I could’ve just cut their lines and moved on without a word said.
I had a guy pulling a water skier that kept getting closer and closer with every pass. Finally I cast a 5 inch red and white daredevel over the rope as he went by. That skier let go of the rope pretty fast when he saw that. They went and skied somewhere else.

Musky plugs work better.

Funny story. When I was in high school I had a friend who was really into Musky fishing. Both him and his Dad. I often went musky fishing with them on leech lake. They did not like walleye fishermen getting close to them while musky fishing. If a boat got close to them they started with a cast near the boat. If that did not work, the next Cast would hit the side of their boat ( saw that a few times ) If that still did not work, the next cast was into the boat and a jerk on anything it hooked. Rather that was gear or Body. I only witnessed that one time and it was Gear. He told the guy that the next cast would be him that was hooked and pulled from the boat.
Yikes…seems like attempted assault isn’t worth it over a fishing spot.
had the same thing at the family cabin, a guy from across the lake would start to troll and he always would go close to all the docks… well the in-laws would never say a word.. he would cut their lines while bobber fishing for northerns!!! well I come alone and see what is going to happen and I put on the biggest dare devil made I think and just as he passes by I cast and get all his lines!! real nice mess and he was pissed… I said you seen us fishing go around.. cut all his lines and gave him his lures back…. never came close to the docks again…

Could probably argue with a deadly weapon as well. People are nuts.

x3, I figured Jimmy’s original post was a joke. The responses proved otherwise. You gotta be pretty dumb AND bad at fishing to want to hurt someone for fishing too close.

I’ve had some choice words a couple times but I usually just pack up and move on. I actually enjoy fishing next to others. If someone pulls up next to me on a spot they are more than welcome.

Ya I don’t disagree. This was in the early 80’s. The guy was a lot Native American. I guess he felt like on leech lake the Law would mostly be on his side. I surly would not want any part of that these days. Way to many guys with Guns and like said its not worth it for a fishing spot.

I think there was a stabbing a couple years ago on the St Croix over a fishing spot.

I could see that happening at smelting spots on the north shore rivers. Guys are wild up there. Used to get rocks thrown at me all the time. Its always in the middle of the night so tough to figure out who it was.

I’ll be honest that would have sent me over the edge . Someone ran over my tip up once with a tracked ranger that was less than 20 yards from my shack . Grinds my gears 5 years later yet

that wasn’t over a fishing spot, they were on opposite sides of the river, 2 guys that should of known better, and some younger guys running they’re mouths higher than a kite .once the argument started, they guys that of known better went to the other side of the river to confront a stabbing occurred, the one doing the stabbing said it was self defense.

Yeah that wasn’t far from where we were that day and we heard the shouting. All parties in that were dumb as hell. Playing the tough guy didn’t pan out for that gentleman, left his wife and kids with a dead dad / husband. The stabbers were cowards. Talk crap like that and you pull a knife when some one confronts you.
Stuff ain’t worth it these days. Before I had my kids I loved to scrap, we could find a fight any where. I grew up fast when my kid was born and realized it wasn’t worth it. To many people are nuts.
As for thumpers buddies. They sound like complete dipshits. But there are many of those people still out there.

It was intended to be humor. Sorry to see it go this way.

Well your invite is revoked, and we are back to a Ridgeline free neighborhood!

Just to be clear, and I completely agree it was dumb as hell on both sides BUT, The guy got stabbed while trying to attack the kid in his own car.. IDK if that’s cowardly. Not saying any of it was ok, but if an argument breaks out, and I’m trying to leave and the guy attacks me, AFTER driving to my side of the river to confront me, I’m sure I would have protected my life with any means necessary. The court must have agreed because the kid was acquitted.
