Bret had not taken an elk in 3 years. Flew in from Florida, The first day of hunting was able to locate 5 bulls in this draw and take this animal at 330 yards. The elk took 2 steps forward, two steps back and then fell over, (nice because all directions were down if the elk took off) postmortem showed a liver shot, with no damage to the intestines. Pack out was 1.2 miles as the crow flies, elevation gain was equal to a 97 story building. (1050 feet) We were able to debone and pack out all the meat in one trip, (about 130 lbs of meat) Not bad for a 55 and 56 year old. Super good eating elk!!!
