Actually, I’m wondering what this costs, too. I have a 2-3″ gouge that’s superficial, but I’d like it fixed at some point. $200 or $1000 makes a difference, though.
The shops all want to run it through your insurance.
That should give you a idea on cost.
It gives me the idea they’re trying to rip off insurance companies.
Tell them your policy lapsed and you’re only interested in paying cash and see what price they give you.
Sounds to me like someone needs to report them to the department of commerce. The price should be the price and they shouldn’t have any preference how it’s paid for.
