Anyone with recommendations on a spray on, rinse off cleaner for fiberglass? Looking for something that will quickly take off river scum lines and water spots. I don’t mind a little scrubbing but really want something to use in between giving the boat a good bath and regular outings.

I’ve been using bass boat saver. I don’t use it so much for scum lines so not sure how well it works but works great for water spots.

Hull cleaner. Be careful, use gloves. I believe it is muratic acid. It’ll remove everything.

Hot Sauce works pretty nice with a microfiber towel waytogo

It’s gentle but powerful enough and contains a protective sealer for your wax. It also has vinegar (or at least it smells like vinegar) in it for water spots.

    Harsher chemicals strip your wax.

Spray on, wipe off. No need to wash the boat or even get out the hose.

If you’re trying to remove heavy dust/dirt, always wash the boat first to prevent scratches.

For a deep scumline stain (from long term docking or neglect), use The Works Toilet Bowl Cleaner

Boat Bling makes awesome cleaning products for boats. I don’t have a fiberglass boat but I use the hot sauce on my fiberglass console, my outboard motor, and my talon to clean off water spots. Additionally, I use Vinyl Sauce on my seats and Toon Sauce on my aluminum hull. Its so easy to use. Spray on, wipe off. No water or soap needed.

So many sauces….not enough time. I’m gonna give the Hot Sauce a try. I keep the boat pretty clean but being able to give it a quick wipe when it’s just out of the water would be ideal.

If you were looking for a good all purpose one, I’d go with the Hot Sauce like B-man stated above. It will work on almost any surface.

Yep, hot sauce for me as well. I alternate between Hot Sauce and 50/50 water and vinegar

If it’s really scummed up bad, toilet bowl cleaner, but you’ll have to re-wax your boat.

Babes Boat Bright $35/gallon vs $50 plus for Hot Sauce. Both work well

    I use <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>bass boat saver.

When they start making “walleye boat saver” I’ll be interested.

Who in their right minds cares about saving a bass boat?

Star Brit hull cleaner for my fiberglass boat. With a little scrubbing it looks new.

Lucas Slick Mist works well to give a quick wipe down after pulling out of the lake also. Removes water spots easily and leaves a bit of a wax/shine as well. Since I started doing this at the end of the weekend when I pull my boat I don’t give it a full soapy bucket washdown at home very often.

Quick mist and wipe down is fast and keeps it looking clean and shiny.

Had my white bottomed ranger docked at Zipple bay resort for a week, then loaded on my trailer & the whole bottom up to the water line looked like glued on rust. The owner said they use a product called Slimy Grimy to remove that from their fiberglass guide boats. Non toxic, no scrubbing, spray on & 5 minutes later my boat was pure white again.

Turtle wax spray. Can get it anywhere. They make one for after washing so wet and one for cleaning. I use the wet one after every time I take boat out of the water as I have always wiped my fiberglass boat down quick before hitting the road. Takes and extra 30 seconds to spray sides of fiberglass boat and wipe down. Looks sparkly clean and I have never had to worry about water spots or scum line. I use on my motors as well.

Bow to Stern works a little better than Bass Boat Saver for waterspots. I buy BTS by the gallon jug every couple season, and the glass looks great. I probably wipe it down every three or four trips. About every two or three weeks, the boat gets a wash with a McGuiar’s wash/wax soap/water mix that’s very heavy on the white vinegar. Like so much white vinegar that I shower after the boat wash.

Pretty sure that toilet bowl cleaner will take the wax right off.

Something that worked for me and it is cheap is Dollar Tree carpet cleaner in the red bottle. You will need to use some elbow grease and a scrub brush, but it broke loose the algae scum when toilet bowl cleaner would not. The bottom of my boat is white so I do not see any water spots, so not sure if this would work on those.

Another option is it also helps to have the stained area wet. I took the boat out for several hours and the used a power washer and the the scum blasted right off whereas it would not when the scum was dried on.

    Of course.
Find me a wax that creates a barrier so strong that scum only attaches to the exterior of the wax and can be wiped away leaving all the wax..

    Yes cleaners remove wax.
    Yes wax gets dirty.
    Remove and reapply.

The Hot Sauce has been good. Used it for the first time today. Easy spray on and wipe.

It smells kinda funky at first too but you’ll get used to it.
