Mike W with back to back 28s. Then a chunky 35 inch snot rocket. I get on board later with a 27er. The bigger fish were going on cranks Sunday. Looking forward to next weekend!

Thanks for letting me jump in with you guys Sunday. Pair of 28s for opener cant complain at all especially for a guy that forgot his fishing poles at home that day.

Nice work. What’s your plan of attack for the next few weekends? I don’t need specifics, just what types of structure you will target, or where a person would look for the fish to be.

I’ve been reading up on walleye seasonal transitions, specifically Walleye Wisdom written by the Lindners in the early 80s. I would think we are solidly in the postspawn period with the fish in the 10-20′ first breaks but not yet on midlake structure?

I don’t think I’m going to be able to get out this weekend due to the girls having dance and gymnastics shows, but good luck to those who get out.

A lot of rigging leeches in those first break areas. If the wind kicks up, bobber fishing rock piles or trolling crankbaits in that 10 FOW range. Mix in some casting tube jigs/plastics for smallies. Lots of option for Mille Lacs through the fist 2-3 weeks of June. waytogo

Not much traffic out there last weekend. You should be good to go!

That’s why the smallies are so big!

not bashing but those eyes are so skinny. their tails and heads do not match their bodies. I realize they are post spawn but I hope they start putting on the weight. Is there a shortage of baitfish in the lake? I am far from a biologist but something dont add up.
