Oh come on – he probably let the dogs loose in the barn the cats climbed up the poles and it was over. You act like he had them in an octagon till death. Aint no different than a coon hound running through the woods treeing a coon to get shot between the eyes. Wait till you figure out what coyotes due to fawns or wolves to elk.

    That was my thought process.

If it was a fight between a feral cat and a dog at least a hunting dog. I know which one I would pick and it isnt the dog. As long as the cat doesnt get cornered that dog is going to get clawed and bit like crazy. The cat wont likely kill the dog, but the dog will not be having much fun. I have seen it first hand when we have ran into them pheasant hunting out West MN. Big old tough GSP goes in after a cat and comes back out with a muzzle full of cat claws and yelping like crazy. Now this dog went toe to toe with many racoons and never got the wrong end of the fight. Cats, that was a different story LOL.

He just wanted it gone because he said like 5 people had called 911 because of a damn chicken.

The people calling that in should be charged with being stupid and wasting an officer’s time.

Depends on if it’s a hen or a rooster. A rooster can tear up a kid’s legs pretty bad with their spurs. Even an adult can be cut up by them.

I can dispatch the tag team duo of my 5 year old and 2 year old daughter to handle the chicken (hen or rooster) if needed. They deal with ours almost exclusively by themselves.

It’s really hard to comprehend where some people are at in society. Calling police on a chicken and fearing hens/roosters is “scary” in itself.

My girls werent born yet or I would have sent them after it. Its a small town they could call the local police station if it was so important no need for 911.

That reminds me of a earlier experience and had to chuckle. My dog chased one of our cats up a tree. The cat just sat on a low branch just out of the reach of the dog. Every time the dog jumped up the cat took a swing at him and would catch him right across the nose. This was a time I think my dog was happy that I yelled at him and called him off. Only took 2 occasions such as this and my dog learned to play nice.

Sure there are some mean, nasty dogs that do not mind a few cuts from a fight but most dogs learn quickly that a cat with claws is a formidable fight.

Cat stories we all have them. I did get one in the trap the other day but none since. We had a 10 acre hobby farm down in the Lindstrom area back in the 80’s. The guy we bought it from had probably 20 cats on the place and none were friendly. He had no dogs. Said he would take them when he left. Yeah ok. Of course he didn’t so I had all these cats. I had a lean-to off the poultry barn that was the cats main base and they operated out of there.

Every time I would walk in there they would sit up in the rafters and hiss and show thier teeth at me. And I still had mice everywhere. I knew we weren’t going to get along. I had an English Setter at the time. Not a very aggressive breed but a damn good hunter. He developed a method for taking on these cats. He could time it when he knew they were going to try to wrap around his neck and bite and claw him. He would manage to get their mid section in his mouth and clamp down until it was over. He must have killed nearly half of them and then the others decided it wasn’t worth hanging around. He was a relentless hunter he didn’t wait until one crossed his path he spent most of his day stalking them. The dog had some battle scars to be sure but he sure won the war.

Ya as hard as us 2 farm boys and those 3 chessies ran them cats dont think they ever caught one. Now wood chucks were another thing. We had a 100+lb male that would get a death grip on their head/shoulders and the our female and a older pup we had would literally tear them in half. Good times

If you don’t have any pets around, aside from the cats, put a bowl of Mt.Dew mixed with 50% anti freeze. It’ll take care of the unwanted guests.
