Many of you long time members here probably remember long time member and former Pro Staffer on hunting side of IDO GMAN, AKA: Jason Ramthun. Not to be confused with the GMAN that is currently on the site now, for whatever reason Jason did not get signed up on the new site that I know of. Jason is in the fight of his life right now and has been in the hospital since May 2nd. Here is a link to a post that his wife made on the web site gofundme that will explain in more detail what Jason and his family have been dealing with. http://www.gofundme.com/jasonsmedical

Any help you can give would be appreciated please help spread the word, you can also find the website on my Facebook page please feel free to share on Facebook as well, every little bit helps.

Mods if you could pin this to the top it would be greatly appreciated.

This has been about a two year battle for Jason and his family. If you click on the link that Steve provided, you’ll see that not only has he had to deal with an illness that they really still don’t know what it is, he’s lost his job because of it. I’ve known Jason pretty much my whole life, for this request to be coming from him and his family, he must really be in dire straights. He’d sooner chew off his own leg, then ask for someone to get him out of a trap. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. They really, really need them.

The site changed when the site changed,, it’s not the IDO of old. Praying for you GMAN. Hopefully they can get this figured out and get you all fixed up! Stay strong.

Talked with another mutual friend last night, Jason might get to come home today!!! He’s been in the hospital now for 76 straight days and will have many more months of rehabilitation coming. Type 2 diabetes will now be another huge risk since they removed most of his pancreas two weeks ago. He went from a pretty solid 200ish lbs and is now down to 150. Needs to work on walking/eating/giving himself shots, pretty much every little day to day task, he will need to re-learn due to this illness. His wife is out of PTO already, so she won’t be able to help him as much as she would like.

Please IDO, help this man out. He seriously would have been one of the first in line if the shoe was on the other foot.

A special thanks To Steve and Prieser for taking the lead on this.

Jason is a special person, and not just to his son and wife, but to to his IDO family. As one of the first members I met when signing up, Jason shared a true passion for the hunting side of things. From chasing big whitetails and bear in the fall, to turkey hunting walleye fishing in the spring, Jason was a positive influence on my experience here from the get-go. He’s a guy I learned alot from, especially from a deer hunting perspective.

It took seeing Jason a few weeks ago to see what he was up against. Here’s a tough guy, that you couldn’t out-hike, climb, or hunt, in a shell of his former self. It took 10 minutes to do a lap in his hospital room, with the help of a nurse while I was there. Talking at times was difficult.

You see benefits and requests for donation everywhere you go. Most of the time, due to their frequency, they fall on deaf ears and blind eyes. Don’t let this be one of those. As a friend of Jason’s, the last thing he wanted was help. Not from me or anyone, and he certainly didn’t want to disclose that he was going through such hardship. Jason is a hard-nose, hard-working outdoorsman that has never reached out to me or anyone I know for that matter for help. For there to be a request now, means that he, his wife, and his son most certainly need it. He’s facing hospital, nursing facility, and long-term care bills that most of us can’t comprehend. Please pitch in and do what you can for a fellow IDO member that has, whether he knew it or not, helped to contribute and shape what this place has and will look like for years to come.

    Thanks!

    Joel
