Fed ex backed over my mailboxes.

I came home to my mailboxs broke and ran over. Both my neighbors told me they watched fed ex pass the house, reverse and ran over my mailboxes and then drove off. Never even delivered anything. This happened last week so I called fed ex and said what the hell. I wouldn’t care, accidents happen but I’m mad because the guy just drove off and never said a word.
Any ways skip ahead a week and the claims guy emailed me and told me to bad, if I don’t have it on video they wont take any responsibility, and that both neighbors as eyewitness is just there word vs the drivers. What the heck can a guy do now.
Pretty sad when they can’t even pay to replace the damn things. Any one deal with this ever ?

I think Coletrain posted something about the mailman driving in his yard a while ago or something similar.

Bearcat, call the police, get a report with the eye witness statements included. FedEx will have to respond to that as it will be a driving issue then. More work for several people and not much return so may not be worth it from an economic standpoint but if you want to prove a point it should get action.

Oh yea! Had the usps mail truck run into my house and he took off! Luckily my neighbor saw it. I have cameras outside now

This would make me want to schedule a pickup.
Then while he was going to my door,
Smash the h*ll out of his truck with a mailbox.
    Don’t video this happening though.

The Fed Ex guy here locally gets stuck on our 1200’ driveway when it’s plowed probably twice a week in the winter. He also cannot turn around in a 50×50’ gravel area + 12’ concrete apron (so 50×62’ total to work with) without going in the lawn.

Meanwhile the UPS guy has never had the slightest issue.

My dad had a UPS driver accidentally hit his basketball hoop. He left a note with claim information and got it taken care of pretty quick.

This ^^^^^^ it will go on the drivers record as a hit and run. Property damage is property damage.

I’m sure it was a accident. I’m only mad because he fled without saying anything. I would have dropped it if the guy only at least said something to the neighbors who were like 30 ft away. But now the claims guy is treating me like a idiot and pretty much told me I’m sol. So now I’m mad and want to prove a point.

I should have done it immediately. When I originally called, the person I spoke with said it would be taken care of Hassel free. I will call tomorrow if it’s not to late.

How does this even happen ? And for him to just leave and try to pretend it never happened, sad and funny but not a good funny

The cop that came to my house didn’t give two shiits about even trying to give the guy a ticket. He never even wrote me a report after 2 hours of waiting for him to show up. All he did was told me the postmasters phone number

It was a weekend and I wasn’t home but the neighbor saw it. They were delivering a package to the neighbor in the culdesac and he didn’t shut the vehicle off or put it in park. It’s starting rolling ahead and made a circle and straightened out right towards my house. I guess he just got back in it and backed up and left!

Yep call the cops. Have them contact Fed Ex and see if they try to blow smoke up there behind. You have 2 eye witness that aren’t relatives. Should be a slam dunk for the police.
Do you have a name from FE who you talked to? Might help the police.

Couple summers ago had the Amazon driver side swipe my work truck. His boss tried talking me out of filing an insurance claim and wanted me to take the truck a hour away to his guy. They had no insurance on the vehicle.

Ups ran over my neighbors mailbox, little old lady. I went out and fixed it, about 2 months later a $200 check from ups showed up in my mailbox. Turns out she called every day and bugged the poop out of ups and she got them to pay me for fixing her mailbox. Love her as a neighbor!!!

City snow plow knocked over my mailbox stand (4×4) years ago. City said too bad.

I would look into small claims court. Probably more time and energy that return, but on principle….

Mike W: Was this really Amazon or one of their contracted (independent) delivery providers ?

Outside of UPS and FedEx … many tier 2 delivery services have all their drivers as independent. These drivers are on their own regarding vehicle, insurance, etc…

Aren’t Mailboxes protected by Federal Law with pretty massive penalties associated with damaging them?

Seems like something that could be brought up when talking to the Police.

Messing with a mailbox is a federal offense you absolutely need to get a police report and then FedEx will be required to address it. Right now they are thinking of just strong arming you thinking you have no leg to stand on and will just drop it. Dont do it.

this happened with DHL to our neighbor like a decade ago. a neighbor and his wife also said they saw it DHL said to pound sand. So they called the police and filed a report. DHL sent them a check.

I’d call the police. They will take a report and statements from the witnesses.

FedEx are subcontracted drivers whereas UPS are union and company employees. Makes a big difference when it comes to taking responsibility.

The police report thing seems to be a huge pain in the ass. Sometimes getting on Facebook or LinkedIn (if you have an account) and stating what happened then tagging them will get a quick response. FedEx has teams of people watching social media and they tend to jump on negative posts quickly.
