With a little luck I might knock down a tom tomorrow. I,ve never shot a turkey. What’s everyone’s favorite ways to cook wild turkey. From what I’ve heard they aren’t the greatest tasting bird.

The best way I have ever had it was in a crockpot shredded just like pork. Soooo good! But I usually breast it out, and grill those, and then cook the rest in the crock pot…not sure what the recipe was though

I have tried it a few ways I can’t say I have had it a way I didn’t like it. I normally cook it it the oven with some water, and seasonings but deep fried is pretty good to!!

Good luck to you I hope you a big boy!!!!!

deep fry, grill thin slices so they dont dry out as much, or smoking it. Never had a bad one yet.

That is my new favorite way of doing them! My wife made that in the crock pot with BBQ sauce and it was awesome! Another good one is to slice up the breast, marinade them for a few hours and then toss them on the grill! I’ve also deep fried them and they turned out great as well!

Dennis posted a recipe last year and it is now my favorite way to do wild turkey…here it is:

Cut breast into long strips. Marinate in 1/2 Italian Dressing and 1/2 Maple Syrup. (At least overnight) Thread strips onto skewers. (If using wood, make sure you soak in water to prevent burning). Wrap in bacon. Grill till bacon is done.

That sounds good!!! I think I might try it with some of my fresh homemade maple syrup.
