I’ve eaten Muskie just once and we batter fried them. Very good and just like northern pike- which are both better than walleye & I like walleye. A friend got it up in Canada if I remember correctly. I also have eaten my share of small bass from the lake we lived on as a kid. I’d still eat bass if it was cold water they were caught in.

    After she showers………….

But after the shower, is she still musky? blush

    bakes them for Christmas dinner.

I guess at least they’re not wasted, but I always think about the possible “glow” effect.

Back in my Wisconsin life, muskie was baked up for the Super Bowl party…because, you know the Packers were always playing in them.

Any “glow” effect was the result of the Packer victory Super Bowl Champions and the afterglow of many “Old Fashioned’s” and beer and bacon and whatever else went down… laugh

    Musky log recipe?

24 hrs prior consume 7-10# musky. Prepared whichever way you prefer. Add can of beans of choice with at least 6 pack of light beer, cheaper the better, Hamm’s is obvious choice here.

When the digested musky is entering the lavatory let flow, quick pinch 3/4 way out, the release. The result should be a nice long log of musky with tail. Your welcome.

I just buy walleye in the spring from a guy by Mille Lacs, usually has a pickup box full of them. devil

You buy them? How silly is that? roll

You can just go out and catch ‘n’ keep all you want….for free.

Easy to get 20, 30…40 a day. A couple hundred in a good weekend.

My neighbor up there knocks back a beer every time he catches (and keeps) a walleye. It’s always been his tradition. On a good (catching-keeping) day, he can be rather “lit up” when he returns to the dock.

One day the CO was waiting for him. He just stumbled up to his yard, spilled all the walleyes out on the lawn…and passed out right amongst his “poached” walleye. <chuckle>

    On s’en fout

    No charges were filed… whistling

I only eat musky if they are 20”-28”. It reduces the glow effect.

Back in the 60’s before catch and release became the norm our Muskie club had a annual get to gather and baked Muskie was the traditional meal. I t was very good had it 2 or 3 times before we also joined the “catch and release club”. Even then in the early days it was don’t keep one unless it was a true trophy (over 48″).
I was also one of the first guys to showcase a graphite mount for Ron Lax a well known taxidermist in northern Wisconsin. Yes, times do change and usually for the best.

All this musky fillet talk is making me hungry… maybe we should increase the harvest of smallmouth on Mille Lacs so there are more big gators to eat… shock
