This morning I had the dogs out for their morning romp. 2 flocks of Canadian Honkers flew over and got the attention of all three of us. Such a beautiful noise and a precursor to my favorite season.

Also Red Wing Blackbirds calling each other in the tall cattails.

    Morning doves.

    Coyotes yipping in the evening.

Wolves howling in the night in the BWCA.

The call and reply of multiple loons as the twilight fades.

Pine Sap popping and sizzling in an open campfire.

For me, the sound of wind blowing through trees when it’s far too dark to see the trees themselves is tough to beat.

    This is a cool thread.

Cascade creek runs thru a park right behind our house and has a small dam where the water drops a couple feet. 50 feet later is another dam of about three feet. About 100 feet ahead of the first dam is a natural stone dam. Not all the high but maybe ten feet wide. Depending on the flow, these small dams make some wonderful music. Ma and I can be found sitting on the steps down to the back yard many evenings listening to the water as the day winds down.
