Sitting in my camper listening to the wind howl (yes the walls are that thin) remains me of the outdoor sights & sounds I enjoy.

    Howling wind
    Lightning & Thunder
Water lapping against the boat or shoreline
And of course the call of the Loons.

Fishing is seldom about the catching. grin

Also worth noting…………absolute silence. No cars,no people, no airplanes.

That’s what I tell myself when I’m not catching (I tell myself that a lot.)

You already kinda said it but I love the sound of the little waves hitting the duck boat when sitting out in the swamp with the old man. Or the sound of duck wings whistling overhead when its not quite light enough to see. By the sound of this I think ill be duck hunting more then bowhunting again this year.

Loons are a great one, especially on a still evening.
    Running water/streams always sound good.
The flutter and commotion of a wave of Chickadees.
    Pre-dawn turkey gobbles.
The sound of a riser while fishing.

    I’ll add:

    Wind through pine trees.

    Crackling of a fire burning.

Complete silence. Like so quiet you can hear your own breathing.

I used to like complete silence but now its uncomfortable with tinnitus.
I do love the sound of a Grouse flushing.

All good ones mentioned so far. I’ll add the sound of a jitterbug and topwater muskie prop baits on a calm evening. An even better sound is when the lure sounds are interrupted by the strike of a fish and the splash.

I’ll second the turkey gobble. Not much says spring time more than a turkey gobble.

A rooster pheasant cackling as it gets up right in front of you and scares you have to death as you try and mount your shotgun.

The loon call is probably my favorite. Coyotes/wolf a close second.

The faint sound of an outboard flying across the lake at dawn….great way to wake up.

Second would be the early morning rustling of the leaves as you are lying in bed.

The sound of a 17-year cicada sure can take you back to those seemingly endless hot summer days of childhood when you had not a care in the world and spent all day in the outdoors.

All great sounds listed so far. I also love to hear toads trilling, leaves rustling in the wind, the sound of a fire crackling and popping, mourning doves in the distance. So many wonderful sounds in nature!

The silence that is so quiet it’s deafening is the best! Lots of good ones already listed.

Early morning sits during rifle season. Those mornings where you’re all settled in before the sun starts to come up, and all that is left to do is pour a cup of coffee and listen to the woods come alive.

Sitting up in a tree stand and hearing crunching leaves from each individual step of a deer walking by. Better yet-loud grunting and snerting of a buck chasing a doe through the woods!

I forgot about this one! Good call Waldo. I would also add that distant crack of a rifle way before shooting time and you wonder if someone just shot themselves climbing into a stand…

    1) Whopper Plopper at just the right speed where it tunes slightly lower to a deep baritone rumble…

    2) After a long morning of fishing, when my fishing partner Warf takes a big swig of Diet Coke, grins and burps: “RALPH Jon Fritz..!”

Rapids loaded with smallys and walleye maybe a pike or 2.
