If you could choose one crank and one color what would it be? And this is for casting and trolling both. Just that one crank that you always seem to fall back on. Thought this would be a fun post to see what people like best.

It would be a #7 Berkley Flicker Shad in Blue tiger if I could only have one I guess.

#7 Berkley Flicker Shad in Blue tiger

This is one of my go to’s as often as anything, maybe smaller based on time of the year.

I own more flicker shads than anything just due to what I committed to for trolling and having a range of colors and sizes. There are others I like better… but price, and such, Flickers are my bulk crank.

If you watch very close, there are 2 sizes of a Livetarget rainbow smelt and the Live target Gizzard Shad – silver(in lipless mostly, but a few with the crank(lipped)) Both are somewhat similar in color. However my #1 go to is the lipless Gizzard Shad because you can do anything with it. Jig lakers in 120 feet of water to pitching like a blade bait.

The Flickershads definitely catch fish but they have to be tuned constantly and the hooks are really poor quality.
I’d have to go with a gold and orange #5 Salmo Hornet.

Red tiger flicker shad. If not that color then blue tiger. Or those same colors in smash shads.

I follow these posts pretty closely i like to think and don’t recall ever reading to many people on the blue tiger. Is this a relatively new color? Purpledescent, clown, red craw, firetiger, etc is the normal go-tos. Now i need to go get some, damn peer pressure flame

Blue has been a hot jig color for me on the river, makes sense.

I’ve had them for a couple years now… carry it in size four to seven.

Blue Tiger is one of the original colors the flicker shad came in when it was released. Now there are a million sizes and colors. And a lot of EXCLUSIVES which I personally enjoy collecting. I would also have to say flicker shad no.7 in Blue tiger or what I call FUNKYCHICKEN (aka purple-descent) would be my picks if you held me down and made me choose.

Rapala DT6 – River = any of the silver colors for the Lake = Sunfish. I like the extra weight over the flicker shads for casting. I do troll the flicker shads on the river and my go to color there is also the blue tiger.

It’d depend too much on the lake, but if I had to run only one color on all lakes it’d probably be purpledescent.

I’m a big fan of Smash shads with blue/chrome being my favorite.
On opener and a couple weeks following my go to is a orange gold floating Rapala with a couple split shots 18″ ahead long lined iin shallow running the trolling motor.

#7 Glass rap in perch pattern. Trolling or pitching. But I see I need to try some others.
