After 30 yrs I’ve had so many good cigars… many previously mentioned. As for fish boat cigars I purchase locally at Tobacco Grove on my way up north. They have a house brand 10 cigars for $50. I get the biggest ring gage, 5 Connecticut and 5 maduro. I save some money better spent on a good bottle of bourbon, non oxy gas for the motor and bait.
BTW LOTW out of Tamarack Island lodge was off the hook!

We save the cigar money for one hitter money and we skipped the lotw 15 inchers for vermillions 23s and 4s. It was a very great Bite.
I didn’t realize how popular smoking cigars were. I can’t stand much of it and I’m glad my fishing buddies don’t either. Now the spendy bourbon is always welcome

    Newest arrivals.

    Illusione Rothchildes
    Herrera Esteli Norteno
    Rocky Patel ALR 2nd Edition
    Undercrown by Drew Estate

All of these have the Mexican San Andreas wrapper. Haven’t found a cigar with this type wrapper that I haven’t loved.

im sure they are great but a little too spendy for me. I like to stay around $3-4 a stick. might try to find a cheaper cigar with that wrapper as i dont think ive ever had it

Those Brickhouse Maduros are probably the best bang for your buck in the cigar world. Those are GREAT cigars! Have a bunch in my stock also.

Those new cigars I got in I paid around $4-5 per cigar on cigar bid when normally they are around $8-10, and even more if purchased in MN.

Do you guys smoke cigars in the boat while fishing? i guess ive always been the type that only smokes cigars while im drinking scotch and beer so usually on land. Never had one in a boat before. Suppose that could be relaxing too as long as i wasnt worried about dropping big ashes all over my boat

I don’t. I suppose if I was panfishing with a bobber it would work but I also have the fear of burning holes in my carpet.

Funny you bring that up. Usually cigars are a once every couple months in the boat kind of thing. Ashed one over the side Friday night trolling, must have hit my line. Minutes later set the hook, snap! Line broke right where I ashed. Dumb. Now I might just designate it to bobbering.

Just picked up a 5er of Oliva Masters Blend 3s. One of the best cigars out there in my opinion and worth the buy if you come across them.

I enjoy a “good” cigar but am definitely a novice consumer. Sure, I smoked a pile of junk gas station specials over the years while drinking, weddings, bachelor parties, fishing trips, etc.

If anyone has some good suggestions for relatively cheap cigars that are enjoyable let me know. I currently just randomly grab a few once in a great while with no real knowledge of what is “good” or not. I’m not interested in $10 smokes – just affordable decent ones.

All depends on your “tastes”. I like pretty much anything from Caldwell, Have a few from Drew estates that I like, Crowned heads – Las Calavares, Tatuaje. I went through a stage where I smoked one a day, ran an insta page that had about 8k followers, and went to a bunch of events. Still have about 100 or so good cigars in the Wine fridge I made into a humidor. Don’t Smoke much anymore. If your around burnsville hit up Burn. They always have a good selection.

Speaking of Cigars…. yesterday I picked up a handle of Crown.. there was no bag ? I asked the counter gal and she said, they are discontinuing the bag, its just a cost nobody needs she responded. I asked her, why is this Crown the same price as 3 weeks ago then…? She just looked at me perplexed ? crazy

It’s a little hard to find decent cigars for less than $10 unless you are buying online. A cigar that costs $5 in WI costs $10 in MN due to our wonderful taxes.

That being said, the Olivas I just picked up cost me $29 for 5 of them and they retail for around $8-10 in stores.

Arturo Fuente have some cheaper options that most smoke shops have, Punch, Macanudo, and Romeo y Julieta are all solid at a good price point. Are there better, certainly, but for the cost of their “regular” lines, they are some of the better ones at that price point. Also don’t be fooled that the maduro (darker) cigars are higher in strength. Some are, some aren’t, but its a different flavor more than anything. In my experience, the lighter colored cigars are slightly creamier, peppery, and spicy, while the darker cigars are more earthy, chocolate/coffee, and creamy flavored. I’m more of a maduro fan. But try as many different kinds as you can. It’s like wine or whiskey.

Definitely a good way to do.

You can find those on CigarBid.com and Cigar International as well. Those along with JR are the big online retailers.

I found what you’re talking about. There are a couple different $40 samplers I’ll order.

    Here’s my list:

Great: The one I am just about to smoke

Ok: The one I am currently smoking

Bad: The one I finished 10 minutes ago

I love the idea of cigars, and hate the memory of them.

One of the few that are good right off the truck but don’t buy a box and keep around for a year. They tend to lose there flavor and became sort of bland. Just picked up a fiver off of Cigar Page and may enjoy one tonight.

Really? I just had one that had been in my humidor for over ten year and it was great. I wouldn’t say they get better with age but still had its usual great flavor in my opinion.

Maybe its just me but I thought the cigar became almost flavorless but then again I prefer stronger cigars with a little age.

I havent had much in the way of cigars since I started dabbling with pipes. Instead of $4-8 per stick, I can buy a $3-4 ounce of tobacco and get about a dozen bowls out of it. The variety of strengths and flavors available is staggering.
