Anything Nicaraguan and maduro in a robusto size. I typically go with Perdomo, Padron, or Oliva, but will throw in some other brands on occasion as well. Just as long as they are Nicaraguan, I’m usually happy.
I don’t know the name of them, but last month in the Dominican, I had a couple that were excellent ! They were hand rolling them at a dinner one night… I don’t normally smoke cigars, but man were they good, I had 2 !!!
Black n Milds, original, none of that apple cherry bubble gum crap.
It’s like anything else, depends on your tastes.
I tend to like Dominican. Fuentes are my personal favorite, in almost any size to be honest. I’m not sure if the OpusX is still out there, but as a splurge they are difficult to beat.
I would also agree with Montecristo #2 (Cuban) if you can get real ones. For years I was making a trip throgh London every couple of years, so a quick stop at one of the better tobacco shops in town and I was all set.
Romeo y’ J. are also a personal favorite.
If you have the chance, stop at the shop in the Rand Tower in Minneapolis. What a gem!

What I did when first started getting into Cigars was order sampler packs. I started with a 40 cigar sampler that came with a humidor. When I smoked one that I really liked I saved the collar and the next time I ordered would order a few of the ones I like but would still buy a 5-10 cigar sampler pack to keep trying new cigars. I usually order cigars once a year on cigarbid.com and keep them in a nice humidor for those special occasions called weekends!!
Just wanted to add to this since its not a huge topic. But the Hemingway short stories are fantastic.

this is what i am starting to do as well. I prefer a medium body cigar and ive found i don’t care for cigars that are too skinny. Corona is a good size for me. I like Romeo Y Julieta. Ive tried a 5 Vegas which was good. Plasencia Reserva Original was another one i enjoyed.
Ive been ordering off of cigar.com. Is there a better site?
I’ve grown fond of Acid Natural’s for a spring break vacation cigar. They come in a variety of sizes. A mild evening smoke that isn’t harsh but not “fruity”. I watch the sales and usually order online from Famous Cigars, much cheaper than local. My .02 …..
No where near an official, have smoked a lot of cigars & a lot of brands/types. My all time favorite is from Moore & Bode cigars, named Full Brass. I have them shipped to me here in MN. $20 bucks a stick, will last an hour if you don’t power hit it.
Where to begin…….Used to work at a local cigar lounge. I’m a maduro guy and absolutely love anything with a San Andreas wrapper….
Favorites:
Brickhouse Maduro
Oliva Melanio Series
Oliva V Series
Illusione Maduro
Illusione Rothchildes
Drew Estate’s Nica Rustica
Arturo Fuente Hemmingway Series
Also head across the St Croix and save $3-7 per stick thanks to our wonderful MN goverment.

Cigarbid.com is the ebay of cigars…..you can find some steals on there but make sure you know the actual prices the cigars are going for. You can get burned on there too. You can buy 5-packs, boxes, and samplers. Also cutters and lighters.
Cigar International is another good site. Has some very good prices.
Went on a cruise to Cuba last christmas, picked up some Cigars there. I think they were Romeo Y Juliet. I’ll post a picture of the tube they came in when I get home. (IF I remember to) for a guy that doesn’t really smoke cigars, they were pretty good!

This guy knows my tastes as well…..
Backwoods cigars help keep the bugs away when we are canoeing in the Quetico….that’s what we tell ourselves anyways.
Look like your smoking a cat turd, but I like the honey bourbon ones.
Might just be me, but 20$ for 1 smoke? That’s crazy, that’s like 1.5 rapalas.
I quit smoking about 27 years ago and simply have a hard time thinking about sticking a stogie in the chops. Years ago, before I stopped smoking though I’d light up a cigar on occasion and enjoyed them for about ten minutes. After that they started to smell bad.
Too nice of a night not to. Tried a punch gran puro. Not too bad honestly

The Punch Punch (Cuban) is one of my all time favorite cigars. The Honduran Punch that I’ve tried are excellent as well.
Cigars are a lot like bourbon or scotch, so many good ones at varying price points. And what one guy likes another might hate. A few of my favorites in no particular order-
Cohiba “red dot” or connecticut
CAO Black
Ave Maria Immaculata
5 Vegas Classic
Graycliff 30 year vintage

Yep I would extend a x’s 3!
I can’t smoke them anymore tho. If I do I know I’ll get started once again. Never more for this old fat guy!
