Favorite Bass Ice Fishing Lake

Many of you do not ice fish-ok most of you do not ice fish. But it is pretty fun to pull a grennie out of an icy hole-some of my favorite ice bass lakes have froze out, I now have one that is ok, could use say 2 more. Funnest ones have pannies mixed in or at least nearby. Hard to predict if your favorite lake will have a winter bite. Have had my best luck on lakes with shallow cabbage close to deeper stuff. If you have not ice fished for bass just know it is weather dependant and unpredictable, you favorite pond could be loaded with bass, you could do everything right and still get zero.

We catch lots through the ice near me. On both jigging rods and tip ups. Typically a steady bite day in to the evening.

Try Shallow Lake south of Grand Rapids. Lots of bass.

I have thought about using senkos just to see what happens. If you’re close enough to bass I’d imagine they’d work fine. I bet grubs would hammer pike on rod and reel.

White Senkos on a windlass tip-up would be great for pike in some situations-try it!
BTW-the lake can have lots of bass and no winter bite.

I know where you are talking about. I caught a couple of toad LMB fishing for pannies early ice last year. Absolute riot on super light gear. It’s always fun when you have to dunk the rod in the hole when they make a big run.

Yup you know the area. I brought a couple others out and there kids, we had a blast and the tip ups had some very good bass action.
