Morning all – As many of you know the walleye bite improves as the fall season progresses toward winter. You also likely know that both crankbaits and livebait work at hooking eyes during the fall bite. In terms of livebait I wanted to make a reminder here that once the water starts to cool fathead minnows once again become a very good bait choice. A choice that will become the dominant livebait option moving slowly away from crawlers as the water becomes colder and colder.

    Some minnow presentations that work:

On a plain hook Lindy rigged.
On a vertical jig (both plain jig and buck tail),
    On a dragged jig,
    and on a spinner rig.

    Good luck fishing!

Picked up some last week, and you are correct sir they bite em!

Makes for a good transition bait, until they start demolishing the plastics.

Speaking of fathead minnows, where if everybody getting them these days ?

I liked Matt’s, but he is no longer open.

I have found the Holiday in Hudson to be the best bet, but am open to trying other’s if they have good quality fatheads. I have not had good success with Blue Ribbon.
