I’m heading out to North Dakota for work for about a month. I don’t know the area at all and will only be able to fish for a day or two but was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere near the area to fish for perch and walleyes?

    Thanks

The two obvious areas are Detroit Lakes area or Devils Lake and my preference would be Devils Lake.

Closer than Devils Lake would be the Waubay area of SD.

I use to live in Wahpeton. We would always go down and fish Elsie at Hankinson and then the sloughs over towards Lidgerwood. It’d only be an hour and a half drive down to there. There are some really nice pike there as well.

There is a lot of good lakes within an hour of Fargo out by Detroit Lakes. Do a little research and check out the Minnesota DNR lakefinder site. If you only have a North Dakota fishing license there are some lakes around the Valley City area. I know on the ND DNR site you can look at maps of all the lakes they stock and information on them.

Hate to hijack the thread but Eric Miller do you have any tips for pike fishing the sloughs down by hankinson/lidgerwood?
Back on topic tho Brewer lake north of Fargo has lots of small perch with a few decent gills/crappie mixed in if you’re just trying to catch some fish

If you are looking for Northern try the North end of grass lake by Lidgerwood or try Consolidated lake by Forman. Both are teaming with em.
