A couple questions for the experienced far north Canada fishermen.
I’m heading up to Manitoba for the 3rd week of August.
This is acouple hundred miles north of Flin Flon( pretty much the end of the road)
We’ve been there many times in early June, but never in late August.

Can you give me any advice on the differant locations the fish will be in, or should I look to the same places as early June?

Shouldn’t be too hard. Probably slide a little deeper. Spinner with a single hook and half a crawler should be all you need.

The entire north of our province is tinder dry. I’d contact the lodge ASAP and make sure your trip is a go. Lots of fires around flin flon.

Humps, humps humps, walleye will be feeding on baitfish and crawfish. Find them and you will find the walleye. As long as it is not gin clear water that a different situation.

The outfitter is actually insisting we come now or lose our deposit.
Not sure what things look like up there anymore, fire swept through the area a few years ago, not much left to burn.

The water up there is really more like coffee than anything elde.
A lot of slab rock and shallow bays. Not even sure if some of the bays will be weed choked to the point of being unfishable.

Most likely the water is greater then 78 degrees which means the walleye will not be shallow. Take the areas you normally fish and look for adjacent structure that is deeper I would say 16′ or deeper.

It is one of Kissising’s output camps on Kakimakic lake.
Kind of between Flin Flon Manitoba and Woliston lake.

Not sure, they fly us in and we fish.
We fly by hundreds of lakes, mostly unnamed.

I googled it, flint flon is pretty much straight west of sipiwisk.

Is it possible to get this warm that far north? Genuinely curious. I know with all the heat we’ve been hovering around 80 here in Brainerd. Would have guessed the max temp drops the farther north one gets.

If you get this message, I have a few questions about Lynn Lake. We go to Leaf Rapids. If I remember correctly you have been up there in the fall.
    Love that area.
    Thanks. Doug

Are you mostly targeting Walleyes or pike. We do both a Spring and a Fall Trip to Canada. A long ways up, but not as far as you are Heading We fish totally different lakes in the spring than we do in the Fall, so I’m not much help in telling you how the fishing differs from spring to Fall. The Lake types we fish are way different as well even though they are not that far apart. Good luck and hope you have a Great trip. We are Heading to Nipawin Saskatchewan from Sept. 3-14th. to chase Monster Pike. That is if the border stays open until then.

We fish walleye, pike, and lake trout.
Most of the biggest pike we have caught came out of shallow bays.
I doubt we will be able to fish those spots this late into summer.
Will the big pike be near those bays in deeper water or will they move out to the main lake channel?

The Fall Lake we fish for Large Pike in the fall is a reservoir so there are not many bays. This reservoir has very little weeds so in the fall the remaining weeds and underwater points and humps are the main key. Most of our fish come in the 8-15Ft Depth. My buddy has tried our normal spring ( Early June ) lake in the fall a few times and said the fish are located in totally different locations. He said almost none of the spring locations ( Shallower bays ) have any fish in them. Most of the fish are keying on offshore structure – Mainlake rock reefs are the best. I’m not sure if all the canadian lakes are like these. The key in the Fall is the bait. Large pike this time of the year are feeding heavy and want as large of a meal as possible for their effort. Find the bait ( such as whitefish in most cases ) you will find the Pike. Don’t be afraid to fish LARGE baits. We mostly throw large plastics ( Bulldogs and shadzilla’a ) and real large glide style baits ( Suicks, reef hawgs, and large phantoms ) Be sure to give a report when you return. Hope the fires are not hitting the area you fish or fly out of. The area we fish in the Fall ( Nipawin ) looks on the map to be getting hit hard by fires right now.

Thanks for the info guys. We fish the Churchill River system. Fishing for big pike. Always go in June and wondered if our program would even be possible. I’m sure the small shallow bays will be full of weeds an maybe too warm. We cast 5-6” spoons. We plan on working the deeper water along entrances to our favorite bays as a starter. Sept 7-21 IF able to cross border.

I guided on the seal. If Lakers are in your area, fish them shallow as they will be spawning.

PM me if you would like with any questions. I do go there in the Fall but disclaimer… they are Hunting 1st trips in the Fall, Moose and Bear. Still catch fish until your arms fall off then too, just target a little differently. Go through Leaf Rapids on the way, nice area too !
