Was hanging with my GF and we had the afternoon to kill, so we decided to try and get after some Bass and Walleye. We started around 2:00, and with Fall being here, the temps were nice and cool! Water temps were still in the high 60’s right off of the bank and wind gusts were on and off but mostly off; which made Ned rigging my main lure. We started with some moving baits but didn’t have any luck. GF started with some small swimbaits and I started with some bigger bladed jigs and jerkbaits.
After moving around for a bit and getting nothing but small bites, and a small smallmouth bass, we came to a point in the reservoir and got on some good action. Caught a handful of walleye and a few nice looking smallmouth bass. I haven’t caught a big smallmouth in several years and was hoping to get one this day. Had a really nice one on (estimating around 3-4 LBs) but after a good fight, he spit my hook. Got a really nice jump by it though on camera! Everything caught was with a 1/16oz ned rig presentation with a California Craw rattlin ned for the soft plastic. We had to leave around 5:30 to go get her dog, or I think the evening/late-evening bite would’ve been nuts. Going to head back before it starts getting too cold and hope to get my monster, or a big walleye haha.
Before the fishing started, we were driving up and saw two dogs running around in the road…They had collars and were really nice, so we decided to try and get them home. We called animal control and found that they lived only half a mile from where we were at, so we walked them home on the way to fishing. Wouldn’t want to come home to find out my dogs were lost or ran over 😔 All in all, good short time out on the water and we got to meet some nice dogs too! Pictures below of the afternoon and a video link below too if you have time! ENJOY!!!
