I bet you do pretty well. I fish later into the Fall every year. One year I was backing into the access. I hit something. I realized it was iced over. I had a great a sausage and cheese omelette with hash browns and a called it a year.

Yep. Catch just enough fish to get me to ice season. I have buddies that fish sturgeon til ice too so I’ll get out with them a time or two as well.

I would be fine breaking up a bit of ice at the launch but mostly I worry about those spendy ducers.

Thought I’d start tonight! Beautiful weather up here near Grand Rapids. 51 degree water, fish in 20-24 fow… slow drag/banging off rocks with 3/4 oz Ouze underspin. 8 fish total, only one on a jerk bait.

At it again tomorrow – got to do this before it all crashes next week..

I’ll probably try bass a bit tomorrow would much rather go today, this time of year I always bring some minnows and a slip bobber rig, yes live bait for bass. Ill use side scan to look for healthy weeds.

Day 2 Grand Rapids. Weather change, pattern changed too. Took me a half day to figure out. Found fish on a mid-lake hump with scattered rocks/boulders. 1/2 and 5/8 oz football jigs. Water down to 50, she’s gonna crash next week !

Water temp 46 and dropping here on Vermilion. It’s interesting and enjoyable, but also frustrating at times, to try to stay ahead of the smallies as they transition slowly to over-wintering spots. When found, they were willing to bite – in this case a 1/2 oz tail spinner fished with a lift/drop around deep rocks/gravel. As is typical, they bit best when the sun was out; not so much when the thick clouds rolled in.

Brr. I’m not real bright so I’m going to give it a shot today on the River. 46-47 degrees yesterday. Numbers were decent. Bigger ones are hard to find. Dragging along the bottom was best. I couldn’t get em to chase a crankbait. Good luck. How about those Gophers. Flying under the radar.

I was out Friday and Saturday my favorite shore spot. But one that has not been very productive this summer/fall. On Friday I seemed to have a couple of fish on with reluctant bites, weird fights, but they got off. Same happened Saturday. One of the fights lasted a minute before the fish got off with a steady swim up the channel that I could not stop. I was puzzled.

But I finally figured out what it was. One time after a “bite”, the treble hook on my spoon had a big scale on it. Carp. Seems they’re so thick in the area that my crankbait and spoon was snagging them, but not enough to get through the skin and hook them. Maybe I’ll go with bread dough balls or corn kernels and try to catch some for fun.

Fished the River today. 46 degree water, cold wind, 40 degree air temp, and occasional snow. A fishing buddy, who is way better than I am, said to try a Carolina rig. I used it 90% of the time. It works— caught a dozen. Smallies weren’t big, but I was happy to not get skunked. No ramp at the access so started with a cold foot

Skunked in the bass department yesterday. Followed one tiger muskie around in the kayak but no bass to be found. Switched u=it up last night and found some walleyes though

Here’s what several deep water hook sets on feisty smallmouth did to my 5/8 oz football jig. Them buggers are tough…

After the cold next couple of days, Platte Lake temps could drop into the 30’s. I don’t think I’m quite done fishing for bass yet, but I think I’m going to try and track down some crappies in Sullivan. If I can do that and I am successful, I may change my mind about still getting after the bass.

It was a rough go on Platte this year once the temps dropped into the 50’s. It’s like the fish scattered and didn’t get active. The fishing was great on October 9th, but after that, it was back to the same grind it pretty much was all year.

Going to try the River this weekend. A buddy did well earlier in the week. Anyone still at it. Will be the last voyage I’d guess. Supposed to be warm. Good luck.

Heck yeah, we don’t get these nice, extended Falls very often… have to take advantage long as poss. Good luck on the river. I haven’t fished any since early June with water being so low.

If I wasn’t going deer hunting I’d probably be going fishing. 60 degrees is pretty rare in November.

Just got off the water. Lots of leaves in the water right now but the fish didn’t seem to mind…

Bob I was shorefishing pool 2 the last couple days and the smallies were crushing those in that same color. Got a couple walleye on them too. Typically use b fish and tackle plastics out there but the Keitechs were fire. Also the same plastics I was using in my swimbait smallies thread outing.

I like the Keitech but they don’t hold up as well as the B-fish plastics IMO. I’ve been using Pulse-R’s too
