With fall coming I do fairly well shallow with a spinnerbaits. After that I struggle what would be some better tactics to try? I was thinking paddle tail plastics on jigs. Any advice to hone my skills 60 degrees they should be shallower correct? down to 50 they move deeper depths? I do know I do not have much luck with ned rigs or wacky worms it seems they want something bigger and moving fast. Thanks

I think we’re a ways off still from “fall tactics” but yes I find a spinner bait, chatter bait, and other moving lures to be a good strategy myself. I also fish a fair amount of jerk baits in the fall when the water cools. Once it drops below 50, I’m done, time to hang it up.

Are deer hunters thinking about the fall? Think about the way weeds die back, pads will die back and open new lanes for your spinner, always look for weedy flats close to deeper water. Try prime shallows for maybe an hour then move on, could even try shiners but be picky about where you fish them-pros or wannabees do not talk about live bait because they are not allowed to use it in tourneys.
    Good luck!

Buzzbaits can be good in the fall. Exciting way to catch them as well. A lipless crankbait (rattletrap ) also works well in the fall.

I like stickbaits or jerk baits late fall. Those weeks right up to freeze up can be fantastic bass fishing. Twitch those baits along with long pauses. Bass and other fish hit on the pause.

I use larger lure sizes across the board in late Summer/early Fall… bigger jigs, trailers, flukes and even sometimes jerkbaits. Then as Fall goes on I start to scale back to normal sizes of most everything. Similar with plastics – faster action appendages until the water gets cold, then slower flapping beaver style tails and eventually those with very little
movement like a Maxscent Creature Hawg.

Yup, this is the time of year that the musky guys get pigs, May the crappie dudes get nice fish. 50 degrees scale back and start looking at live bait, be careful though you might bump into slab crappies or walters
