We had 24 teams launch this morning for the 4th year of this contest on pool 2. Strong winds was the word of the day but it did not deter these hardy fishermen for chasing their fish. The bite was a little slow on numbers from what we seen in past years at this event but the trade off was some very nice sized coming in. We had several walleyes over the 27″ mark caught today and a 28″ to take big fish honors.

Here are the top three places

1st Tim harms, Chad K and Kyle S. 114″s. (Repeat winners from last year)
2nd Tim Adams, Wayne Prukoseh 113″
3rd Place. Greg Schorn, Dick Grzywinski “Griz” 110.25″s

    Big Fish
28″ walleye. Gary and Derek Richards, Bob Johnston.

I also want to thank our great prize sponsors for support of this event.

Rapala for supplying the control items used in the fish photos.
    Skeeter Boat Center. Fishing pole
    In Depth Outdoors, Hoodie sweetshirt
Everts Resort, Assorted tackle, boat launches and T shirt.
Sturdiwheat for providing the batter for the fish fry.
    BfishN tackle, Assorted tackle.
BK Trophy Catfish Adventures and Team Catfish, dip baits.

    Thank you.

Guys in the contest feel free to ad you photos to this post. Thanks again everyone for coming out and I look forward to doing this again next year.

I don’t spend much time fishing walleyes but decided to fish my first tournament today. I did not go into it thinking about winning but a learning experience. Which resulted in my pb eye at 27″.

It sure was a fun contest…That wind sure made it tough though.

Special thanks to all the sponsors too. That fish batter from Sturdi Wheat sure was good and I can’t wait to try my sample bag. I was also lucky enough to win the IDO hoodie.

Fun times Mike! Contrats to the winning teams. Already looking forward to next year.

    Edit

Here are our 5 fish for 101 inches this year. Plus a shot of the “Pool 2 Wood”. The plaque is new this year. Piece of wood Mike picked up on shore and Gary fixed up. This winning team gets their names on the trophy. Me and James took er down the first year. Hope to be on the top again some day.

I’m curious as to why all the pics of jig packs with the fish?

Awesome fish to everyone and congrats to the winning team.

Those packs of jigs are the “control” tackle every fish must be photographed with.

Figured something of the sorts. Must of grabbed them out of clearance bin at FF, that’s where I picked up all mine exactly like those. The black head and chart. tail has been $$ on the river for me as of late, nothing over 15″ but only a matter of time.

The control items where donated by Rapala and IDO. The control item is to show the photos are from that day. No one but me knows what it is going to be that year and we hand them out at sign up the morning of the contest. Fishermen can use the control items during the day and then get to keep them at the end of the day.

To keep things on the up and up I had someone else bring our teams control item.

Here are some photos from David Grosulak’s boat.

Congrats to the winners. Saturday was slow for us and didn’t go as planned. The buddy I was suppose to fish with blew his lower unit before he even made it out of the channel at lions so I ended up hopping in with another buddy in his boat. We only measured 2 fish but caught dang near everything from bowfin to crappies. The funny thing is I went to a go to shore spot on pool 2 right after the tourney and it was lights out with the eyes, just for the heck of it I measured 5 fish at 118″, that’s how it goes you win some and loose some.

    Tight lines!

We got our 5 but it didn’t work out as we had planned. Our best tactic ended up being a heavy jig/minnow over a hole but it was slow fishing and we caught everything under the sun there.

The wind was tough but everyone had to deal with it. Here are a couple of our fish.

Thanks to Mike for running this nice tournament, thanks to Joel for helping with much of the gameday admin and thanks to all who brought and cooked food. It was a good time!!

It is pretty interesting that the winning teams have been within 10 inches of each other through 4 years. It will be cool to see that board after many more years!

If you look at the top eight teams, the 5 that did not cash were very close. Toss out their smallest fish and upgrade to a 27 and you’re in the top 3. You really need to stick a good fish to cash in this contest!

Thank you goes out to Mike, sponsors, food cookers for putting on a well-run event. Great job organizing it, went very smooth. That bacon wrapped venison was amazing. How did you get it so tender?

We were fortunate to successfully defend the fall hog title and are looking forward to the challenge of defending the title again next year.

Not sure who’s camera we used but I would be interested in a copy of the pic of the teams standing by the plaque.

Thanks again from Kyle, Chad and Tim.

    Tim,

The venison was really easy, just the last of my 2013 backstraps cut down to medallions marinated 24 hours in a little bit of soy sauce, wrapped in bacon, and a bit of dry seasoning mix, and don’t over cook. Glad you enjoyed.

Now I just need to have a stronger showing fishing next year…

Here are a few of our fish from Kendall, Marty, and Micah…We never really found a pattern and caught some on wingdams, crankbaits, hair jigs, trolling, and even rock piles. I can’t wait until next year.

Like others have said, special thanks to Mike for all his effort organizing and running the contest.

That might have been the best venison I have every had…Special thanks for making that and I would love to try it again next year.
