I can’t decide if I want to go up early tomorrow morning or wait and go in the afternoon so I can troll after dark. Leaning towards just going in the morning and heading home at dark since I’ll be going solo.
If you guys see me in my black alumacraft with a yamaha feel free to stop and say high. Planning on putting in at liberty and hanging around the east side.

What a beautiful night on the lake last night. Walleye were biting 10-12ft. Trolling. Still areas with lots of floating grass. Litte bumpy today but smallies are hungry.
    58 degrees.

Brr it is chilli up here today. Pretty good wind out of northwest.

Good luck Loomis. Bite should be good for both species.

Evening and night were better for eyes. I fished mostly smallmouth during the day. Picking up a walleye here and there in the process.

Slow again for us today. Tonight is a different story. Fishing was about as good as it gets until 9. Hasn’t been as fast and furious since then but still good.

I seen a boat out yesterday with 3 guys in the middle of the afternoon bobber fishing in one spot pulling in a lot of fish. Did I say a lot?

A lot of the fish were small with the occasional net on larger fish that looked like walleye. I did not want to infringe on them so I did not get close enough to see exactly what was going on. They looked to be in approx. 27 – 28′ of water.

It was one of those occasions where they were spanking them so bad that I had to move out of site so I would not feel as bad that I was not catching much. bawling

Bobber fishing is my least desire and I did not have any bobber gear in the boat or proper bait for this. It was one of those occasions where they were spanking them so bad that I had to move out of site so I would not feel as bad that I was not catching much. bawling

I went over and fished from shore for third time this Fall tonight for a couple of hours. I still have yet to get a bite. I maybe had one follow; I turned my headlamp on and there was a walleye sitting in a spot about 20 feet out it hadn’t been when I started casting. There was one boat along the North side of Vineland Bay that pretty much stayed in one spot. The water level is getting on the low side for this shore spot to be productive

Fishing was about as good as it gets until 9? What depth and method were you using during this time frame?

I was fishing with my wife on Tuesday and needed to pull off the lake just prior to sunset. Leaving early was a bit painful with clear skies and moon…..

Pulling cranks. 11-13 feet. It was awesome with the moon out.

I will be out there tonight to give it a go. Say hello if you see a 621 ranger gray and red out on the north end before it gets dark. I will also have my landing net straight up in the back of the boat.

I won’t be out there to say hello, but you sure do have a nice boat/truck setup mojo. You must have a pretty good size garage to fit that sucker in there.

I did get out Friday night. Only one 23″ fish from 5pm to 10:30pm in the off an on rain sad . I went out of Red Door. FYI:Red Doors harbor has so many weeds in there floating it was almost unbelievable. The water level is also so low that it is less than 1′ deep once you get out of the harbor in a couple of spots on the lake. I scraped the bottom a couple of times, luckily it is all sand up there. If anyone is thinking about fishing the north end I would go out of anywhere else and boat to the North end. There were a few really drunk guys there at 5pm that said Barneveld’s harbor was worse than Red Doors.

Great long weekend to be on the water. Caught biggest smallie of the year at 21 3/4. Walleye bite was decent especially at low light and dark. Moon was spectacular. Water was 54-55 degrees.

Out of curiosity – when trolling around sunset and later, what is your favorite lure and color to troll with?

Mine were Storm Thundersticks in Rainbow trout, the old style. They outproduced any other lure in our boat when them ran to our desire. It seemed like only 1 out of 4 would have that great wobble which really made a significant difference. If it did not have this desired wobble out of the package we could not able to tune them….

Now it just easier to put on a Shad Rap size 5 or 7 which always run good. Favorite color varies depending on moon light or not but it seems that you can hardly go wrong with Fire Tiger.

    Your thoughts?

    Smithwick Rouge
    Berkley Hit Sticks
    Rapala Husky Jerks

This time of year it is strictly stick baits for me in the evening and night time.

Colors all of sorts. I have been trying oddball colors more lately both summer and fall.
    But some go to are

Perch, Firetiger, Clown, Purple, Blue Chrome,
Wonderbread in a variety of colors.

As the water cools (<55F) I stick solely with stick baits. Ill probably throw on a shallow, jointed shad rap first when the water is over that. This applies to all year, but if the fish aren’t going at night on these baits, Im heading in. Top to Bottom,

    Hit Stick
    JSSR7
    Rogue
    HJ10
Shallow Shadow Rap w/ VMC trebles

And then all of these in a dozen different colors (puke)

More importantly than color this time of year is speed.

With water <55F, I don’t think I’ve caught a fish going faster than 2mph. Sweet spot is 1.6-1.8mph

Agree on color. This time of year and time of day speed and action are more important than color. IMO probably all year, but definitely this time of year and in the dark.
Does a hot color outfish others sometimes? Sure, but I think how it’s running at full speed and how it is running in turns is more important.

I had my gear in the car and was in Onamia tonight, so I headed over to my shore spot and fished for about an hour and a half tonight. No bites again. A few small eyeballs swimming around per usual.

I was out on Saturday evening. Trolled about 2 hours in the waves and got blanked. My neighbors said the same. This was in the NE corner so I’d suggest fishing a different part of the lake if you are going out crazy

Wind blowing in tonight under 10mph, so perfect conditions for there to be shallow fish. I’m going to head to the lake pretty soon.
