Let’s hear where yall fishing this fall!?

Look forward to this time every.dam.year. Cold mornings, nice walleye chops, big fish roaming.

Besides the local river putting the bend on eyes and smallmouth going to Winnie, might try to sneak in another trip to the Brule.

Best time of the year to actually catch nice quality walleyes within 20 minutes of home. Only traveling I’ll do is for Mille lacs smallies. And that’s only a hour drive

I have not been out locally in the last few weeks. Mostly due to my Canada trip. My main fishing partner is back in Canada right now. Once he returns I think we will start getting out a lot. This is normally the time of the year we switch from mainly fishing bass to mainly fishing walleyes. We normally fish them hard from Now till right up to ice up. By far the best time of the year to chase Walleyes around here. I do a fun event each fall called the Fish and Chips event. Its a 1/2 day Bass fishing tourney followed by a no limit Texas hold-em tourney. Its something I really look forward to each fall. That Event is this Sat. A group of buddies and I also have our Annual Perch fishing trip to leech lake. That is also a fun outing that I look forward to each Fall. This year we will be at Leech from Oct. 12-15th. Fall is by far my favorite time of the year to fish. I only wish the fall season lasted a little longer. Hopefully we will have a extended fall this year.

Good luck out there Fishthumper! I’ve got a small derby myself next Monday, Oct 2. Weather looks WARM

OtterTail county last night was pretty good. Water in low 60’s and fish reacted to cold front favorably (and an 80% moon). Caught a dozen, kept a meal.

Leech this weekend, cast and blast for grouse/walleye. Vermilion the next, same deal. LOTW the next, sharpies/duck/walleye. And then on to the rut. Hopefully work forgets I exist.

Fall is my favorite time for walleye fishing as well. I leave for LOTW/Rainy River on 10/4 for 4 days of fishing. After that I will be fishing a couple lakes on the WI River system until ice up

Hoping to get out over the next few weeks if I can get my projects done. Hard to beat rigging or jigging larger minnows this time of year. I’ll be going until ice up which I hope is long way off! devil

Right now the forecast shows our Fish and Chips outing may be a little Wet and Windy. Hope that changes a little. If not the fishing is only 5 hours, so I can live with the rain and wind if necessary.

I guess I am in the minority here, but I have never had much success in the fall. I typically focus more on bowhunting, so admittingly have not put much time in. With that said, I still have had very little to show for my efforts, so have gravitated back towards the stand.

Seems like walleye tactics and depths can be all over the place, so its been tougher for me to get excited about hitting the water without having confidence in a plan of attack.

Gonna go drift some bobbers down the river this weekend. Hoping the warmer weather coming doesn’t kill the bite. We got plenty of rain so the river should be a little higher and that should help.

I’ve got two bass club tournaments left. One on the Whitefish Chain this Saturday and the multi-club derby on Sunday the 8th; the lake hasn’t been picked yet for that one. I expect with the low-water fishing from shore at Mille Lacs for walleye is going to be trash again this year. My enthusiasm level for getting out just isn’t very high right now.

Petenwell. Still trolling BB with slow death spinner rigs. Water temp is still in the 60’s. Eyes are starting to get into a fall pattern.

I fish Petenwell and Lake Wisconsin for the most part. Nice to see Perch seem to becoming more common each year and good amounts of walleyes at all sizes on Petenwell. I don’t know why or how Saugers haven’t made it above the dame in WI Dells. In the fall on Lake WI, I probably catch 4x more saugers than walleyes but they taste the same and the saugers might even put up more of a fight. They arent skinny, that’s for sure

I love it when everyone starts hunting. The lakes and rivers are quieter. Still not sure of the right thing to do when I’m fishing the river and I see guys in the reeds with shot guns. I usually move it along pretty quick.

Crazy, I had surface temps of 68-69 Sunday night on the lower croix, even in areas with cold water tributaries/current. And that was also right after the big rainfall.

Definitely a selling point for me. Far less recreational watercraft too.

Although with 70 degree water temps and 80+ degree air temps predicted into next week, I feel like a few might still be out there…

Headed back up to winnine this weekend. Was up there two weeks ago and found fish throwing on the feed bag. Son caught his biggest walleye at 7 years old 26.5 inches. Love this time of the year.

x2!!! I still make it out once or twice a fall, but most of my limited free time is spent in the woods.

One last trip up to Woman lake over Columbus/Indiginous day for some fishing and grouse hunting. Then its pretty much non-stop Pheasant hunting every weekend after that and time to put the boat away. We always do well this time of year, makes me feel like a half-decent fisherman haha.

Petenwell for a couple trips, chasing eyes and few hours casting for musky. Also get some nice perch and plenty of white bass incidental to walleye fishing. Closer to home, it’s the Rock River for eyes, and Oconomowoc and Pewaukee lakes for skis, and Madison chain for big gills.
And I’m glad there are lots of hunters at this time of the year….lakes and rivers are nice and peaceful much of the time.

My tournament in the Bass Club Clash/Challenge Cup on the 8th is going to be on Upper and Lower Mission. I’ve fished several tournaments on the lakes in the Fall, even my first-ever Clash back in 2009. I’m fishing with a guy from the Range Club that I fished with at the last Clash I was in back in 2021 on Serpent Lake. Looks like the weather will be just a little short of cold first thing with fairly light winds. Fishing has been pretty good for me this week before it got so windy, so I’m optimistic they will be biting with a few cold days under our belt now. Or they could be turning over and completely shut down.

Caught this beauty 10 minutes from the house yesterday on the St. Louis River mrgreen

I’m going to dedicate a few weekends this fall to learn and map the area from Boyscout to the dam.

Crappie fishing up on LOTW today! Big schools in the deeper holes plus more than a few musky hanging around. We keep our big plastic musky jigs ready. We watch those with live view chase the musky around and they seem to have good luck jigging for them. Dress warm! No time for shorts and flip flops
