Got a chance this afternoon for an hour or two. Found some crappies shallow (less than 15′).

Are you using minnows on the crappies? I’ve been throwing cranks and flys on fly rod coming up empty

We were using beatle spins and 1/16 oz jigs with twister tails.

This time of year I go deep. On Sand Lake I have caught them as deep as 50 ft. down in 60 ft. of water.

This is a catch and keep practice…. they will not release well if you pull them up from 50′. My opinion.

Right now the water is still warm enough that you shouldn’t overlook weed lines like summer. Submerged wood can be great or the edge of warmer water where bait will be.
