Water was still 47-48 tonight . Only could find smallies to play tonight . Last weekend was tough for me but did catch a 27 and a 28 within 5 minutes of each other at last light on blades . Barley could scrape together a limit of eaters if I was going to keep em. Struggling this year compared to last … how’s everyone else doing ?
I was out on Saturday in the ridiculous winds. I only got two fish in 5 hours. I didn’t see a fish that was netted. It looked like there were a lot of boats up by the dam. I didn’t get close enough to see how many there were. I talked to one other guy that said he only had 2 fish as well. I thought it would have been better. Maybe the wind and the white caps slowed the bite down.
dink sauger and big ass sheep/carp of all things is all that I could get the last 3 times out. was going to give it one last shot on Friday but found out my trailer needs new hubs so putting the boat into hibernation until March. Time to find some trout or wait for the hard stuff now.
Up by the dam:
Thursday 14th,
caught over 40 fish, mostly small,
about 6 at 13-14s
two 15 , a 16 a 17.
Ran out of bait
Monday 18th
about 25 fish, much tougher really light bites
4 at 13-14
a 15, 2 at 16, 1 at 17
FYI, the real hits today came when I started tail hooking the minnows because of the short hits and mouthing the bait.
I was out yesterday for the last time for a while looking at the forecast. Slow again with one nice 26″ and a few smaller fish. A mixed bag of white bass, red horse, and long nosed gar. Pulled Denver rigs and jigged a bit. I could have fished at the dam with minnows and caught 30 dinks playing bumper boats, but that isn’t fun for me.
Slow for me as well. Picked up 4 -15 inch Plus fish throwing blades in the rocks (Expensive game) but that was it . Few dinks . Didnt bother going to the dam either.
Rain coming friday, melting snow, above freezing temps should dirty the water a bit and maybe bring a little flow. I’m contemplating myself about going over Sunday.
