Can’t say I’ve ever caught a bass frogging in November and this one CHOKED it. Had three other strikes too. Had one pinned and it swam straight at me so fast I could keep up with it and lost it. Fun morning.

Might have to start a winter bass pattern thread the way this year is going!

Should be a good go to right now, sitting in the woods the other day the frogs were everywhere. I couldn’t believe my eyes as they were literally everywhere.

On a lake with no weeds, all but 3 docks were pulled in and a big warm up? Figured they had to be in shallow somewhere and that was the only cover I could find. Told myself this is nuts but what the heck else am I gonna throw? jester

I have seen caught bass in 5′ or less in every month of the year-Shallow is always worth a check, another plus, when they are there they are usually ready to eat.

I tried a whopper plopped a few casts. Couldn’t get em to bite it. Went back through with a chatter bait. They liked it much better.

I was out on Tuesday, Nov 1st for 4-hours. I only got four bass that trip, and three of them were on an R2S Bubble Walker. I mostly threw a chatterbait, which is what I had been crushing them on the days previous. At the end of the night, there were fish breaking all around me for about 15-minutes, but I couldn’t get those fish to hit anything. Not even sure what they were, to be honest. I caught my bass on other spots earlier in the trip.

Not true. They don’t always want it, but when they do it’s the best topwater bite you’ve ever seen.

Yesss….I’m watching it closely, the temps look good but there is some rain in the forecast along with 20 mph winds. My hope it blows out one of those days and leaves the other day near perfect conditions. Whatever day that is I hope my clients leave me alone waytogo

The fill in for Walter Cronkite (know him?) knew that he was into sailing- he (Rodger Mudd?) suggested that the boat be called “Assignment” That way Mudd could say that Cronkite was ‘on assignment” when absent.
Anyway life is short and fall is shorter, stay out there Fry!

Biggest pike, biggest bass, and a few impressive walleyes have all come on the whopper plopper. I think you fish them wrong

I got sucked into buying 3 of those things after Chris Lane won an elite event on Toledo Bend years ago using one. DSG was having a buy two, get one free. So instead of just having one that doesn’t work, I have three that don’t work lol. They marketed the crap out of that thing after he won that and I got sucked into it.

To be clear, they are a well made, quality lure. I just don’t catch anything on them. I can’t even get a snot rocket to hit one and they pretty much attack anything else I throw!

I got out for a couple of hours tonight. I read about some guy doing well on square bills, so I brought that box along tonight. I got four bass on a KVD 2.5 and had one get off halfway to the boat that hit the Bubble Walker. Will definitely be out in the boat on Saturday and probably Monday as well.

I’m hoping to get out in the boat one or two more times before putting it away next weekend. Going up to Monti with some buddies Tuesday.

Do any of you guys fish Coon Lake in East Bethel? We moved to Ham Lake and are now only a couple of miles from Coon. So this fall after the boat was pulled from ML, I have been on Coon a few times. Only have caught 2# and the last couple of times out, skunked both times. I’ve been fishing on top the weeds, the breaks to 12′ and the break to 18′, swim jig, chatter bait, Texas, whacky, doesn’t seem to matter.

Coon Lake sees a fair amount of tournament pressure during the season. Not saying that’s why you are on the struggle bus, but generally pressured fish are harder to catch than less pressured fish.

I had a good outing on Tuesday. Lots of medium-sized bass in 70 degree weather. I’m dumb enough to try one more time in 40 degree weather and wind. I’m. It real bright. Oh, well.

Three hours logged on Platte Lake on Saturday. Got seven bass and eight pike all bass were on square bills, and a couple of pike were on a Mann’s Minus One. Threw a chatterbait, a fair amount, and had a few hits, but nothing hooked up. The biggest bass was 3.59lbs and was the 2nd last fish I caught. I had an XCaliber square bill get bit off and go bye-bye because I was an idiot letting it flop around outside the boat rather than making sure the hammer handle was safely inside the boat. The Water temp was 45-47. Very little surface activity, even though baitfish were on the surface in both places, I fished.

Couple of PB’s this week while chasing smallmouth…heaviest individual fish (Tues) and heaviest 5-bass bag I ever been a part of (yesterday). This is without a doubt, my favorite smallmouth bite of the whole season.

That lake is my kryptonite. I’ve had 3 tournaments on there and only caught a limit this past tournament this summer. All good fish were on a frog or flipping pads. It does get hammered too. I do know from guys that have fished it a lot that there are a few spot on the spots where if the fish are there, you can get an 18-20 lb bag.

Taking the boat to get winterized tomorrow. Sad day. A couple trips in waders is all that’s left. It’s been a good year. Good luck.

I’ll be taking the boat out of the lake on Wed. I may do some fishing before I take it out if it isn’t raining. Went out on Monday night for an hour. Water temp was 39 degrees. I got two pike and had to cut the trip short to take care of a matter at home.
