I’m looking at purchasing a new rod that I want to use for riggin and slip bobber fishing. I don’t know if I can achieve this with one rod or not. I would prefer a good riggin rod with an ok slip bobber rod vs a good slip bobber rod and an ok riggin rod. Is this possible? I’m looking at either an eyecon or bps walleye angler series rod. Has any one used one of these rods that are designated for this application?

I am not familiar with the rods you are talking about but rigging is where you wanna spend a little extra on a rod cause you wanna feel every little lick. A med/light 7′ is what I like to use for rigging. The same rod would work great for bobbers. I dont get to crazy on my bobber rods, just make sure its got a softer tip.

I run this one and would recommend for riggin & bobber Mr Walleye

I personally like to run separate rigging rods & corking rods. I like a faster tip for my rigging rods and a softer tip for my corking rods.

For corking rods, these 8’3″ rods from Limit Creek have worked very well for me. They have a very soft tip so you can see the bite without the fish feeling you and the long length takes up a ton of slack on the hookset if you ever need it.

For rigging rods I like anything in the Med-Light action and 6’9″-7’Length.

I agree. Spend the money on the Riggin rod where sensitivity is more important.

I have a St. Croix Legend Elite I use for my main rod when rigging, but looking to add a second rod for rigging and slip bobber fishing. We can use two lines in Iowa. Want to spend around $100, but would like it to handle both applications. I have it narrowed down between these two just looking for a testimonal on either the Eyecon ECS76MLXF Slip-N-Rig 7’6″ ML X-Fast or BPS walleye series 7′ M jigging/rigging rod.

Doonan–riggin AND slip-bobbering? Sounds like a great case for two rods! As you know, you can never own too much gear and should never pass up a chance to add to your arsenal. Maybe the fellow IDO’ers can help out with justification to the wife/girlfriend???

got the girlfriend covered, but just bought three new rods this spring. Was hoping to add one last rod to the arsenal for the year, but who knows might take two rods. Still would like to know between the two rods which is better for riggin. I’m a die hard st. criox fan, but love gary and keith and they make a lot of money fishing. So I’m guessing they know a thing or two about rods.
