Well, with gas going up and up, I will be fishing closer to home this year, which will mean a LOT of fishing being done on the river.

After watching the IDO video on jig dragging, I think I can definitely give ‘er a shot. I have been looking at getting a 6′ 6″ or 7’ ML Fenwick HMX for the rod and the reel I am looking at a Pflueger President or Supreme.

Am I in the ballpark or way off? Let me know what ya think

I like a 7’6″ rod to get it away from the boat a little further, but I think a 7′ would work just fine.

Not far off at all! However like Josh, I prefer a longer rod.

I do know Dad picked up a 7’6″, MedLite – Fast St Croix EyeCon from Dean down at Everts and after fishing with it yesterday, I might need to add a few to my rod collection!

He has it paired with a Pflueger Arbor which makes for a very light and versatile combination!

    Agree X3…

When the boat pressure starts increasing longer rods are a neccessity…To add the the 7’6″ St Croix…don’t overlook the 6’4″ to 8’3″ telescoping ML Limit Creek rod. That rod is a Drag Queen…period!

I use the 8’3″ Limit Creek rod for dragging plastics and live bait and it works great for that application. Plenty of length to get the bait away from the boat and on days they are being finicky you can drop the rod tip back and they have time to eat the bait.

Anyone have the 8’3″ LC rod in stock where I can check them out? I have another brand in the 8’3 lenght that I am looking to pair-up/upgrade with a second of similar length. Would like to feel one in my hands before I purchase though.

Dean has both rods in his shop. Both are great choices and you compare them side to side.

I have been considering checking out the LC rod as I haveheard nothing but good about them.

Next trip to Evert’s and I will have to have BK show me these rods.

That’s of course if he has any time as busy as he is.
