Looking to add a new bottom bouncing rod. I’m looking for a bait casting rod that is going to be used only for bouncing. The majority of my bouncers are 1/4 oz to 3/4 oz in size. Any suggestions on rods? Length of rod? Action? Thank you for the help.

Using light bouncers that you speak of, I use and highly suggest the St. Croix tidemaster (TIC76MM). For heavier bouncer over about a ounce and a half I use a St. Croix walleye tournament series rod (TWC70MHM) – its their heavy bouncing rod. As a cheaper yet I would imagine great option for heavier bouncers would be the new St. Croix Eyecon (ECC70MHM). I will be picking one up to try this spring. good luck

Im assuming this is a salt water rod? I do like the idea of a longer rod. Have you tried the St. Croix tournament light bouncer rod?

That is what I use as well Joe. The tourney series are awesome but a bit more $ than most care to spend. Thus far, the early on water feedback on the eyecon models have been very positive. I asked Marty Hahn to test drive them during a few guide trips and his feedback was positive.

Doonan, the tidemasters are a salt water rod. I have not used the “Light Bouncer” rod because I had the tidemaster already and could not be happier. I am sure the “lighter” Tournament Series would be great too. The Tidemaster doubles as a great long ling trolling rod which is what I originally bought it for. The “heavy” bouncer rod was actually purchased for “3-waying” on pool 4 but as the name sugggests works great for heavier bouncers.

Dean, I would love to try the new Eyecons for 3-waying. i will be starting my trips over your way at the end of Feb if we get some nice days and then into March. I assume you’ll have one available to “test-drive”?

I have the light bouncer tourney model as a demo rod if interested and Joe,you bet on giving the eyecon a test drive!

    doonan,
I did fish with the medium action eyecon quite a little this fall. The rod I had was either 7 or 7’6″. It was a little light for the 1.5 to 2 ounce weights I was using at the time while three-waying but would be on the money for .5 to 1 oz. bouncers.

The rod had a great feel to it and priced right.

Dean help me out–was this 7′ Medium?

I just bought a Legend Tournament light bouncer used off Ebay for $106.00 . The thing showed up it is like brand new. I was wondering if anyone has used these rods for casting crankbaits. I just not sure if it has enough backbone for throwing a #7 model a Bomber . If anyone has, I love to here your feed back.

I have and they are a awesome crank rod,but borderline IMO for that large of a crank. 6A is about max for that action.
