Just unwrapped my new Fenwick Elite Walleye Trolling rod and it came with a built in line counter on the blank. Has anyone ever tested one of these? I like the action but unsure if the counter will hold up or effect the line.

I’m very interested to hear reports on this as well. Let us know how you like it after giving yours a try. What rod length did you get?

I am a big fan of their Walleye elite tech line. Great rod for the price IMO. I’ve got 2 jigging rods and one for rigging. Considering picking up the 6′ trolling rod.

I got to handle these when they were first introduced as prototypes for a tv show here. The actions were very good. The linecounter left me wondering a bit,I also had a customer here that took them out for a maiden voyage and he promptly returned them, not because of the action, but the linecounter system was not satisfactory in his eyes.

Yes the line counter does concern me. Well I guess we’ll know this weekend. Heading up to see you guys Saturday. This one with the counter is 7′ 10″ M-MF. I also have a couple more Elite Walleye trolling rods that are 9 foot and a shorter 6’3″ jigging rod from Fenwick. Love the other 3 will test the new one on Lake Pepin.
Oh and by the way Dean, I plan on picking up one of those shorty LC rods from ya.

I owned a pair of these & used them once & returned them, the line counter just didn’t work. I think I’m the custmer that Dean is talking about.

Just got done test driving this rod for 2 days on Pepin and it worked fine. Liked the action very much and the line counter worked fine. One thing that I did notice is the line does not fall off of the reel through this rod mounted line counter like it would on a line counter reel. Other then that I would give it a I was using 15 lb fireline braid.
