My old buddy Jamie (a.k.a. Knobby) and I headed up to the lake early Friday morning in search of a lead core trolling bite, and we were not disappointed!
Jamie had never fished Pool 4 before, and had only trolled lead core with me on Pool 7 one time, so this was a fairly new experience for him.
We had just gotten the rods set in the holders and headed ‘er north when the first fish of the morning bent the shorty rod over, and we put a 19″ walleye in the boat!
The action was somewhat inconsistent, but by sticking with the game plan and changing depths according to the bright sunlight, we managed 2 walleye and 9 saugers for the livewell, plus some real nice fish we released, including a 22″, a 24″, a 25″, and a very chunky 27″ going over 7-1/2 lbs!
All the photos are of the released fish, plus we put back 3 little saugers, 4 sheephead, and just for BrianK, a 3 to 4 lb. flathead, also caught on a crank.
Due to wimwuen (Marshall) and Pat (Gutone40me) planning a trip up there this weekend yet, I’m not allowed to reveal too many details, at least not until after the holiday.
See you on the water, and good luck,
Curt
