Walleye Trolling Rods?

Anyone have any feedback on the Shimano Compre Trolling rods? I like the design and plan to pair it with a Sealine 27/47 running lead core.

Many have recommended using a small swivel to attach the leader to the lead core (reduce line twist issues). Do you think the line guides on this rod will handle this okay? If the rod tip may have problems with this, I suppose I could always upgrade it to something more durable.

    Thanks for your help!

Those are the rods I use to run lead. I have the 8′ 3” M.

Dgoodman, how do you like it? Do you do use the swivel between your leader & core – Does it have any problems with the Compre line guides?

How do you like that Medium for pulling your lead core w/ crankbaits? I looked at the Mediums but with the Shimano TC4 blanks it seemed a bit soft, so I was looking to go with the MH 7’10” blank to handle the extra weight of lead. I like that it also reduces down to less than 7′ (telescoping rod) so easier for storing.

Yes I run swivels with to connect my lead to my leader. I haven’t had a problem with them being to light.

The nice thing is they double as a long lining pole. Some day I will own 2 10ft sheels trolling rods and the compre’s will be only used for long lining.

I’d go with a Med action over a medium heavy for the core. Don’t worry about the weight in the line it’s not usually too heavy but you want a little flex in the rod because leadcore is pretty low-stretch stuff.
