Lake Erie

Four of my friends and I ventured out to Erie thursday and friday. Thursday we caught our limit, friday the wind picked up and made fishing tougher, I think water clarity was the problem(or lack thereof). The charter boat was plenty big enough to handle the waves, though feeling a bite was a lot harder. We still managed 17 on friday, with approx. a 22″ average for both days. Big fish was only 24″, but all fish were very healthy. That is one heck of a fishery out there, hope to make it back again someday.

We fished a championship over there a few years ago. We hope to make it back in the next year or two. There is some pretty reasonable lodging available. It’s the 10 hour drive that’s the problem.

The drive definitely stinks. We left Oak Harbor around 4:00 pm, didn’t make it back to West Salem until 2:00AM, my butt was seriously draggin after getting pounded by 4-6 footers for 8hrs and then 10 hrs of driving.
