    Poacher,

I see that you are a fairly new member to IDO. I can’t speak for any individual fisherman on Pool 4, but I can say that from reading the countless Pool 4 posts over the years-I have to believe that most if not all these big girls are going back. I am sure that there are some trophys that go on the wall, but with replicas these days that number is probably dropping as well. The guys on IDO that are fishing Pool 4 are concerned with the same things you are

    Just my opinion

Catch and release I believe is huge and getting better all of the time On the down side, there are still and always will be people out there that fish on an empty stomach.

I have seen a few big ones taken out by people when I was leaving the river, but don’t remember seeing any not released in recent IDO posts. It’s a personal choice and I respect the choice of the angler to be within the law. I can hope to see things turn out one way or another but that is just hope.

Anything 20 inches and above gets released from my boat.

Its been so long since I have even seen a walleye ,that I may have hang on to it for a bit, but then of course release it.

This was from today: 29 inches and 10 lbs 2 oz. Still swimming and I saw another one about the same size let go as well.

My size limit is 19. Any thing over goes back. One of the few times smaller is better.

I certainly dont see every big fish caught here, but do witness quite a few,I am aware of 2 13 plus pound fish kept for mounts out of countless 10 plus pound fish caught this year. That is certainly a long ways from what happened 10 years ago.

I have had the good fortune of catching some VERY nice walleyes over the years and it has never occurred to me to keep any of them-to hang on the wall. With the replicas that can be made these days, I don’t think I would ever keep a big fish to have it mounted. I have a 4 year old son and look forward to the day that he can catch one of those NICE BIG walleyes. He caught his very first walleye (all by himself) just before he turned three years old and has been “hooked” ever since. I can’t wait for the day to witenss his excitement when he lands his personal best!
