So, I picked up a book on Walleye fishing a few years ago and remember their was a bit about the European Walleye called the ‘Zander’. What a fish!! I beleive they stocked them into lakes of Minnesota and Iowa… anyone know about this and if they are still around?

PS: itll be a zander i bet if its over 14lbs

    Hey Brandon,

I didn’t hear we had any stocking. There was a big brewhaha about restaurants serving what was called walleye but was in actuality was Zander.

I think North Dakota is the only state to have stocked zander in the US

Brandon? Have you ever tried eelpout?

If Zander tastes anything like walleye, ‘pout are much better.

    Now that’s just plain nasty.

Ive cleaned and eaten an eelpout.

it didn’t taste bad, the texture is a little rubbery though.

I couldn’t get the stink off my hands though after cleaning the darn thing.

Don’t trust this one. He will will have you fishing for catfish and tell you it is better than fishing for walleyes.
